GREETINGS TO
FEDERATION MEMBERS!
Each
year, we reflect back to our accomplishments
for the year.
This year will be no different as we
have had impressive successful venues that the
host clubs have staged for your enjoyment. We
are grateful to the Los Angeles and Seattle
Cascade Clubs for their respective events on
Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The
fellowship and camaraderie was evident in
these hosted Federation sanctioned events. Many
thanks to the Sacramento and Los Angeles Clubs
for the open invitation to their respective
annual events at Reno and Las Vegas.
With
the rotation at Memorial Day alternating
between Sacramento and Los Angeles and at
Labor Day between Seattle Cascade, Vancouver,
Portland and Victoria, there are many venues
that members can plan for 2012 and beyond. In
addition to these two weekend dates, this year
the Tucson Club will be hosting their every
three year Federation Invitational event in
April. See
the particulars below. Added
to the five year plan, it was announced by the
co-host clubs Hawaii and Oakland that they are
planning a Maui Invitational event in 2013. Watch
for further announcements on Maui.
The
competitiveness of the inter-club events which
included the Battle of the Bay, Challenge Cup
and Valley Cup in California as well as the
Inter-City matches in the Northern clubs have
created a great rivalry over the years. Four
qualifying clubs from the California
competition meet at the Northern California
Cup (NCC) to determine the NCC champion.
The
four clubs for the Battle of the Bay were
Dragons, Oakland, Monta Vista and Marin was a
tight match with Oakland edging out the
Dragons by one point. Both
Oakland and Dragons qualified. The
Valley Cup between Monta Vista and Santa Clara
was won by Monta Vista. The
Valley Cup between Sacramento and Weekend
Drivers was won by Sacramento. The
NCC saw the Dragons winning going away. It
was the host club Seattle Cascade winning the
Inter-City team matches on Labor Day weekend.
Again,
as in the past, the objectives that have been
to continue the Federation’s quest to help the
member clubs improve or maintain their active
membership through our twice a year Federation
meetings.
Also, to improve the invitational
participation by encouraging club members to
honor the host club’s hard and laborious job
to provide participants with great venues and
activities.
