Miru is one of Tenkou's Demon Kings, bent on taking over both the book world and the real world. Miru's ability to not only infect people with demonic parasites that gradually take possession of the target but also to directly control people she infects make her very dangerous and manipulative by nature. Much of her motivation comes from the desire to create a better world for herself and her younger brother Ren, who she is having an incestuous relationship with. Originally ordinary humans, Miru and Ren were thrown off a cliff by angry villagers because of their sinful act. Wandering around as a soul in hell, Miru got a second chance at life when Tenkou revived her and Ren with promises of happiness and a world that would not question their love.
While Renhou infiltrates Miaka's school, Miru goes to Taka's (aka Tamahome) college in order to get close to Tetsuya, Keisuke, and especially Taka, who she eventually ends up infecting with her power and nearly controlling. It was only through the efforts of the Suzaku Seven that her plan was circumvented. However, she is, like her brother, very persistent and will do anything to ensure her and Ren's future happiness, including ruining Miaka and Taka's.
