Amiboshi is one of the Seiryuu Seven, sworn to protect the Priestess of Seiryuu from harm. Though he looks identical in appearance to Suboshi, his twin brother, Amiboshi is a person with a gentler heart than that of his sibling. Playing his flute to entertain others is among one of his favorite things to do and is something he has done many times. However, this does not make him any less of a fighter in battle. Using his own life energy, focused into the flute he plays, Amiboshi is able to control to a limited extent the life energy of objects and in some cases, people - though to influence a person, Amiboshi must expose them to the sound of his playing for a period of time. Despite this, Amiboshi's abilities are formidable and not to be taken lightly.
Amiboshi and Suboshi were first recruited as members of the Seiryuu Seven by Nakago, who took them away from their war-torn home. As members of the Seiryuu Seven, Amiboshi and Suboshi hope to bring order to their homeland, which was nearly destroyed by a war that they had unfortunately bore witness to as children.
Amiboshi first reveals himself to Miaka and company as part of a devious plan on the part of Nakago to foil her ceremony to summon Suzaku and gain her wishes. Tricking them into thinking he was one of them, Amiboshi masqueraded as the celestial warrior Chiriko and planned to eliminate everyone at the summoning ceremony. Although he was ultimately unsuccessful in this attempt, Amiboshi's time with the Suzaku Seven had changed his heart and his loyalties, as he saw the motivations and methods of the Suzaku Seven to be far more morally correct than those of his companions, the Seiryuu Seven. He later ends up saving Miaka's life and fighting on the side of the Suzaku Seven, though he does pay a heavy price for his switch in loyalties.
