Random thoughts from his grown fans, on finally meeting an untouchable man.

The year was 1975, if my memory serves me correctly. I was at work with my Aunt. Me and one of my cousins were sitting at his dads desk listening to the radio and this song came on. It was really an upbeat kind of peppy song. We were getting all into it. I decided to call the radio station and find out who it was. The man who answered the phone told me it was a new group from Scotland called The Bay City Rollers and the name of the song was Saturday Night. I asked him to play it again. I think he laughed and said okay.

So...the search was on. I had to find some information on this group. I went to the local stores and bought up the 16 magazines, the Tiger Beats, and all those other teen mags. Well, I was hooked. Then I found the "Plaid" album. OMG...I listened to that thing everyday, 24/7. I found out that the guys were gonna be coming to Atlanta. WOOOHOOOO!!! It was after the second time they were on the Howard Cossell show the following year, 1976.

Sooooo....I started the begging of the parents, the pouting, the crying. I found out that it would be on a Sunday when the guys would be in Atlanta at about 4 or 5 different locations. I picked the Perimeter Mall location to go to. Dad, being the loving father he was, God Bless him, took me and 2 other girls to Perimeter Mall. We got there and I never saw a mass of people in one place. I thought, "omg, how are all these girls gonna fit in that tiny store." Well, word spread thruogh that the guys were at the mall and you wanna talk about mass mayheim? Oh My Gawd!!! I was in front (yiiippppiiiieeee - never would have thunk it).

BUT - there were others in front of me, on top of me, coming up under me. You name it, they were there. It was scary. I was crying. After the band left the crowd dispersed quickly. My dad and two friends were looking for me. How me and my friends got seperated I have no clue. I was in the front of the line, one was in the middle of the line and the other was in the very back of the line. My album that I took suffered severely. It got all bent and ripped. Oh well, such is the price you pay.

The Rollers came back to Atlanta later that year. Ian was in the group. They performed at The Fox theater in Atlanta. Again, my dad, the trooper that he is, took me and another couple of friends to see them. My mother, gotta Love that woman, made me my Roller outfit (???? - i cried because "it didn't look like the one in the magazine"). The place was packed or so i thought. I found out otherwise. But to me it was. I had, again to me, THE best seats in the house. 10th row, Orchestra seating.

And WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO...right in front of Woody (I was a BIG Woody fan at the time). We painfully endured the opening act, a magician. We didn't want to see the magic, we wanted to see Those Gorgeous Bay City Rollers. Finally - the concert started. It was great!
