Old Europe or New Iraq?
Today at a campaign event, stocked with the usual
assortment of stepford wives and promisekeepers, Bush actually said "You can't
build alliances if you criticize the efforts of those who are working
side-by-side with you. So we'll build alliances." He said this in response to
Senator Kerry's remark that the President and the appointed Iraqi Prime Minister
were being less than candid (in the hinter lands we call it lying) about the
current state of affairs in Iraq.
I
watched as the likes of Wolf and even the venerable Lou Dobbs (okay it's friday
and Lou was off - so it was his sit-in) just reported it with a straight face.
I watched and waited for the Kerry campaign to issue a two word response which
never came:
old Europe
