Happy 2001 Holidays from Lonna, Casey and Brian King! True to form, we have been very bad at sending out holiday cards. The last one was 4 years ago, time is just flying by!! Lonna and I are currently on AA flight 579 heading to San Jose so it seemed like a great chance to knock out a holiday letter. We are so thankful for so many things and we wish all of you the happiest of holiday seasons! The theme of this years letter is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Not enough room for lots of pics, but go up to our website at homepage.mac.com/casey to see some photos!!
The Ugly
So many good things have happened to us, but the last couple of years have been challenging for a number of reasons. First Lonna was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Scleroderma in March 1999. Then a couple of weeks later, my Dad had a a major stroke and came up to Austin to rehab. Then, in October 1999, Lonna, my Dad and I were run over by an 18 wheeler in a 15 car pileup. My Dad passed away in November 2000 and my Mom passed away in May 2001. I told you it was ugly ;).
The Bad
Lonna turned 40 this year and I did last year. We both celebrated our birthdays in Las Vegas. So thats not all bad;).
Lonna did flood our entire downstairs while I was traveling on a business trip last October. Brian loved it though since it opened up the decorating options for Halloween and the downstairs became an indoor skate park for awhile.
The Good (no, the Great)
Brian is the typical 10 year old and into lots of mischief ;). He loves organized sports as well as going to the skate park and dropping in 10+ foot half pipes. Hes also on his 3rd motorcycle and seems to outgrow them quicker than sneakers!! Brian and Lonna got to take a couple of great Mom and Son trips recently. One to New York last year, and this summer a two week boondoggle to the Bahamas (not sure how I missed this one).
Lonna is doing great. In the summer she enjoys full retirement and during the school year she has cut back to 1 day per week. She finally got that little sports car afew years ago and enjoys darting around the hill country with the top down. She does alot of fun stuff with her friends including bunko and book groups, but she occasionally mixes it up with the guys out on the motocross track.

I left Apple after 12+ years last January to join the startup craze. Maybe this one shouldve made the bad list .. but the jurys still out ;). Not too much flying last year, but I was able to take the plane to Kansas for the annual Pulsar pilgrimage. In the summer of 2000, I took a 4 month leave of absence from work and the family packed up to visit some friends in Samoa for a couple of weeks. Just an incredible experience in the South Pacific!! Still coaching lots of youth sports and even played in an adult soccer league last winter. One highlight this year for me was hopping a ride in a Citation V up to an airshow in Wisconsin for the day. What a way to travel!!
Things are going great for us and we sure do miss seeing all our old friends! Drop us some e-mail sometime at casey@mac.com or lonna@mac.com.
