Bad Night

The tone of the night was set when we greeted Shawn outside, on leash, and both dogs went crazy. It took 5-10 minutes of walking close to Shawn, letting Bodhi flip out and eventually getting him to sit and check him out, then flip out again until it suddenly clicked that Bodhi knew Shawn and he instantly changed into a wiggle-butt soft, typical australian shepherd.

...Shawn wanted to see how Bodhi would do in the apartment though, so real quick I ran just him upstairs and inside, took his leash off, sat down and started watching tv. Shawn came up, knocked on the door, and I put Bodhi on the leash and let Shawn in. The whole thing started again, but he recognized Shawn a lot quicker and then chilled out.

...When we walked by Charlie with me and Buggy closer to Charlie, and Bodhi the furthest away we didn't have an issue, but if Bodhi was on the closet side he would bark and lunge.

...To avoid this happening in the future, until I figure out what to do I have to just turn around every-time I see a person, not have people over, and that sucks.

I had a bad night tonight.

Cesar Milan is accepting submissions to appear on his show and have him help your dogs. http://www.dogpsychologycenter.com/submissions.php Well, for those of you who have been following my issues, I can use any help I can get.

My friend Shawn is a film major with a nice camera and was willing to help me with this problem. Shawn had been around Bodhi off and on since he was a puppy, never with any issues. Buggy stopped barking when Bodhi did, but Buggy still didn't want to be petted (which I'm fine with).

Initially we wanted to film inside my apartment, because thats where things are the worst. I can't have people over, I can't even work on the problem because Bodhi goes into a rage so fast when that happens. We changed the plan to film outside for everyone's safety (foreshadowing). Shawn wanted to see how Bodhi would do in the apartment though, so real quick I ran just him upstairs and inside, took his leash off, sat down and started watching tv. Shawn came up, knocked on the door, and I put Bodhi on the leash and let Shawn in. The whole thing started again, but he recognized Shawn a lot quicker and then chilled out. That was when we absolutely decided we had to film outside.

Shawn had Bodhi, Buggy, and me sit down and explain our situation to the camera. We went through a couple of takes and the dogs were being so cute. Everything was going really well. Once that was done Shawn called our mutual friend, Charlie, to come over and be the "stranger". What I expected was more barking, lunging, thrashing, and whatnot. What happened was much different.

Charlie walked up, like expected, and Bodhi went crazy, like expected. What went wrong was somehow I got bitten. I'm not sure what went wrong, but at some point I was bitten. It happened so fast I didn't see what happened. He got me on my forearm, right by my elbow, and broke the skin a bit. We continued filming, showing how Bodhi acted. When we walked by Charlie with me and Buggy closer to Charlie, and Bodhi the furthest away we didn't have an issue, but if Bodhi was on the closet side he would bark and lunge. Then we walked by a group of people getting ready to go somewhere in the parking lot. Bodhi was on the side closest to them and didn't bark at the whole group of people. Its all very strange.

So I finished the video crying and red faced, which is not what I wanted to happen. I didn't expect to get bitten though.

To avoid this happening in the future, until I figure out what to do I have to just turn around every-time I see a person, not have people over, and that sucks.

What is very irritating is that Bodhi had been doing so well. Before the incident with my friend needing to stay over the other night, Bodhi AND Buggy had been wonderful. They had been great on leash, with the maintenance men (on leash), and people in general. I did want him to act crazy when he saw Charlie, but I didn't think he would go so crazy that would happen.
