Day 13 vet

I took the dogs to the vet and she ran blood tests on Bodhi and Buggy and the vet called the behaviorist at Texas A & M and my trainer to see what they recommend.

...Hopefully his fight or flight response will be lowered and he'll get the picture that humans are scary and at that point we will slowly wean him off of the drugs.

I took the dogs to the vet and she ran blood tests on Bodhi and Buggy and the vet called the behaviorist at Texas A & M and my trainer to see what they recommend. They all want Buggy on Prozac and Xanex. Great.

So, the vet called the prescription in to my local Walgreens. I went there and said "I need to fill a prescription for my dog, last name 'Johnson'. My vet called it in." The vet said "Which Johnson with a dog?". Apparently there are a lot of Johnson's at my local pharmacy filled doggie drugs. Weird.

Anyway, I started him on Prozac first to make sure he doesn't have a reaction, then I'll add the Xanex around Monday. The Prozac takes a while to start working and the Xanex is immediate for predictable anxiety (as in, I give it to him before something scary happens).

The goal is that eventually I will have him on both meds, and I'll continue having the girls at work and my boyfriend work with him. Hopefully his fight or flight response will be lowered and he'll get the picture that humans are scary and at that point we will slowly wean him off of the drugs.
