Ancient History

In Stargate SG-1 ancient and primitive cultures are explored, along with Roswell and technological societies encountered on planets in the far reaches of the Universe. There is also an astrological connection that adds depth to the Stargate story.

In ancient times the constellations of the night sky were believed to be the star gates through which souls passed as they came from Heaven to incarnate in physical bodies on Earth. At the end of a lifetime the soul departs from the body.

Also, each day we live is a small incarnation. At the end of the day the sun disappears into the opposite hemisphere. It apparently "dies". Similarly, human beings turn to sleep, which also resembles the stillness of death. The soul departs into the Universe on its dream journeys while a person sleeps. It returns in the morning to the physical world, vaguely remembering those dreams. These small incarnations are the polar energies of spirit and matter, body and soul.

Porphyry (233-304 B.C.E.), a Greek scholar, historian and neo-Platonist, explained the concept in In the Caves of the Nymphs:

Souls that descend from the heavens to become incarnate on Earth pass through the celestial gate of Cancer, and upon completion of their life cycle they return to the heavens through the gate of Capricornus.

An individual's birthday is a sacred day, and the map of the skies at the time of birth may offer insights about the person's character and talents, by the nature of the dominant planets. In this spirit, you can see Rick's star configuration and a brief sketch of his personality traits. His Sunsign is Aquarius, Moon in Aries, Ascendant in Gemini. Uranus is soon to appear on the eastern horizon. His ruling planet is Mercury, the twinkling planet in his horoscope. His zodiacal colors are blue, scarlet, and aquamarine. This makes for a bright, quick mind, unpredictable and independent, with flashes of Aries temper. View Rick's horoscope.
