BLIND FAITH
Episode 6-17 [121]
4 March 1991
Pete Thornton's old flame Samantha Lorra, a presidential candidate in her country, is in danger from the atrocities committed in Latin America. In disguise she comes to America on a cargo ship and is met by Pete and MacGyver, who take her to a safehouse. They must connnect with Nelson Richardson, a journalist, who has a videotape of the activities of the current regime. He evaded the drop earlier when a courier was shot, but a new meeting is arranged at the train station with MacGyver, wearing a dove pin as his identification. Richardson hid the tape in a railway car and panics when it isn't there on his return, but they locate the car on another track. Two assailants arrive and shoot him, but MacGyver gets the tape, and it is broadcast on the evening news. Sam and Pete must face Stamms, a D.X.S. agent, even though Pete is nearly blind, afflicted with advancing glaucoma. Stamms' men tie up Pete, and when MacGyver returns, all three are taken to a warehouse. Stamms starts a fire to cause an explosion and kill them. They get loose, and MacGyver tosses the small burning vat into a trash disposal can, but his hands are badly burned. He directs Sam in rigging wires that throw a shock through the door, knocking out Stamms' men when they try to reenter the building. Once outside they take custody of the men. Samantha returns to her country, and the videotape brings the situation to light in the world.
Sam: Don't you remember how it was between us? We shared everything.
Pete: Yes, we did, and everything then was so alive and vibrant.
