THE VISITOR
Episode 6-10 [114]
3 December 1990
While driving through a rural area MacGyver witnesses what appears to be a U.F.O. in the night sky. Since his car's electrical system has failed, he must stay on in the small nearby town for a day at least. He takes on the Rigels, a couple of "extra-terrestrials" who have promised to transport a desperate farming family to a trouble-free planet... for a price. Tommy Wiley, a young local boy, befriends MacGyver and distrusts the Rigels. His mother Sarah is quite ill though and has the most reason to want to believe them. It is arranged that they will give their life savings to the Rigels in exchange for passage to their planet. John Wiley, the boy's father, begins to catch on that they are being conned. MacGyver uncovers the chemistry behind their light show aided by Phil, a clever and mysterious travelling salesman dealing in Vortex vacuum cleaners? When the Rigels kidnap the boy to insure that the Wileys hand over the money, John Wiley realizes that they are all in danger. MacGyver and Phil make their own U.F.O. to distract and overcome the Rigels. In the end, Phil disappears as suddenly as he came, and they all witness a spectacular U.F.O. rising into the sky.
Phil: I'm a concerned bystander, like you. The Wileys seem like nice people. They almost bought a vacuum cleaner from me once.
MacGyver: How do you manage to always show up like you...? You gotta admit, it's weird.
Phil: A good salesman always manages to be where he's needed most.
