While waiting to fly home to his ailing grandfather, MacGyver chases a thief who stole an Egyptian artifact, the Sun Boat, which by ancient belief carries the dead into the afterlife. While fighting the thief near a ledge, MacGyver falls from the building. In the hospital he goes into a coma and cardiac arrest. Suddenly he sees Harry Jackson in the hallway. He starts to follow, then looks back and sees himself lying on the hospital bed, surrounded by Pete, Hakim and Tarik from the consulate, and the hospital staff. They cannot hear him, but Harry can. When he goes out into the hall, the door to his room locks behind him. He follows Harry towards a bright light. Soon he is on the pier, watching Harry get onboard a great ship, Osiris. He begs to go onboard also, which after some delay is allowed. Harry takes him to see his mother and father, who died years ago, and shows him what will happen if he doesn't return to the land of the living. He wants to go back, but the captain refuses and locks the two in the engine room. They escape as the engines start up, and he goes overboard, then grasps the pier railing. At that moment his heartbeat stabilizes and he regains consciousness.
Captain: Try his name again.
Ship Officer: Yes. MacGyver. He's clear to go onboard now.
MacGyver: So I am really... dead?
Captain: Have a pleasant journey, MacGyver.
