RUSH TO JUDGEMENT
Episode 5-20 [103]
16 April 1990
A juror in a racially-charged murder trial, MacGyver is unable to sleep. He slips out of the hotel at 3 a.m. and goes to the dimly-lit street where Wyatt and Lisa Robbins were shot. Lisa was killed, and her husband identified Curtis Danby as their assailant. MacGyver questions Belinda Jones, "The Bird Lady", whose window overlooks the scene. She tells him she saw nothing, but her bird Arlo saw everything. The woman is allowed to testify. Pete will not reveal how he found this witness, and the judge threatens him with contempt of court, so MacGyver admits that he is the source and is arrested for breaking jury sequester. Out on bail he learns that Belinda Jones just died in an "accidental" fall. Meanwhile, the gun that killed Lisa has been traced to the Masters Department Store, owned by Sandra Masters. Her longtime involvement with Wyatt Robbins becomes public. MacGyver meets Robbins at a restaurant and tells him he suspects Sandra of having hired an employee, Lawrence Groden, to kill Lisa. They go to Sandra's store to find Groden and must confront Sandra, Groden, and guard dogs. Danby is cleared of all charges, and Sandra is brought to justice.
News Reporter: Sounds like you're against the free press.
MacGyver: No, just the abuse of it.
News Reporter: Well, all I've got to say is, I'm glad the rest of America doesn't think like you.
MacGyver: You never know...
