At Smoke Creek Farm MacGyver investigates the sudden death of Kyle Larson, trampled by one of his horses. Jenny, his daughter, found a tiny microspeaker in the stall. It emits ultrasonic signals, causing a panic reaction in all the horses except Jenny's Chance, who went deaf following an ear infection as a colt. Jenny tells MacGyver that loan shark George Henderson, holding a mortgage on the farm, pressured her father into fixing races... for awhile. When he refused to continue, he was killed. MacGyver, Jack, and Pete disguise themselves as computer geek Dexter Fillmore, drug lord "Lucky Charlie", and dirty bookie Harry Boyle, to expose Henderson as a money launderer and murderer. At the Derby Grill they play out a scenario to become partners with Henderson to fix a race by running Jenny's Chance and using the ultrasonic device to give an auditory shock to the other horses. When he takes the bait, they run a computer check on his money and videotape him in conversation with them as he confesses to killing Larson.
Dexter: No, forget it.
Henderson: C'mon...
Dexter: No way, can't make me. Ow-o-ow! I'm allergic. I got hayfever. Let me outta here!
