THE SECRET OF PARKER HOUSE
Episode 4-01 [065]
31 October 1988
MacGyver must battle ghosts and monsters in a spooky old house inherited by Penny Parker from her Aunt Betty, who disappeared thirty years ago. Sylvia Lang, who runs the local newspaper, tells them that Betty was insane following the death of her father, then disappeared and was declared dead after seven years. There are strange noises in the house, and they also find a skeleton, which they report to Cliff Howels, the local sheriff. Looking around in the house he and Penny discover Betty's diary, A Penny for Your Thoughts, and he surprises Penny with a birthday cake that evening. MacGyver uses clay to build upon the skull and creates a face which bears an uncanny resemblance to Penny. He also notices lead deposits on the bones, which was the cause of Betty's worsening paranoia. Sheriff Howels comes by again, and Penny wanders upstairs after drinking coffee he laced with mescalin. MacGyver finds her at the foot of a hidden stairway. She had fainted in the bedroom, and Virgil, Sylvia's brother, carried her down. Virgil shows them a moonshine distillery where he used to make liquor for Betty, and lead deposits layer the pipes there. Howels interrupts them, and when MacGyver brings up the hidden scandal involving Betty, his former lover, he fires shots at the furnace and leaves MacGyver, Penny, Sylvia, and Virgil to die there. MacGyver and Virgil blast through the wall to the outside. The explosion knocks down a frame shelter, killing Howels in his truck.
MacGyver: There's no such thing as ghosts. There's no such thing as ghosts.
