Wildlife begins to perish mysteriously near a biochem lab, the result of an uncontrollably mutating organism that speeds up the aging process. MacGyver is sent in to get the organism sample from a fallen satellite. His life is in peril when his video transmission is interrupted, but he fixes it and restores contact. Originally a mere growth accelerator developed by Dr. Sandra Milhouse, the organism mutated rapidly in the vacuum of space and continues this process back on earth. Pete and MacGyver have orders to shut down the project, but Sandra refuses. When the organism begins destroying the lab window seal, MacGyver temporarily restores the seal with gas and freon. Sandra apparently eliminates the organism, but Pete and MacGyver realize as they are leaving the facility that she tricked them. They return to the hydroponics lab and discover she kept back a live sample. Her dog Ace jumps for the Petri dish, spilling the contents, and both she and the dog are terminally exposed. She begs MacGyver to save the discs of her work. He and Pete must leave by the elevator shaft before the facility self-destructs.
MacGyver: Well, she gave up this time.
Pete: Did you hear that?
MacGyver: Yeah. She gave up way too easily.
