GHOST SHIP
Episode 3-04 [048]
19 October 1987
While setting survey markers in Alaska MacGyver comes upon a seemingly abandoned ship with Karin Graff, a stowaway Russian girl, and a Sasquatch aboard. When signals monitoring MacGyver's survey progress don't show up at the tracking station, Pete is worried, and Joanna, a permanent employee there, voices her doubts as to MacGyver's abilities. She says he probably abandoned the project. Meanwhile, MacGyver and Karin have jumped overboard and swim to temporary safety onland. Karin is too terrified to talk at first, but later on she speaks and tells MacGyver that she and her cousin had stowed away on the ship back in Russia, making the trip in hopes of locating her father in Alaska. Her mother is dead, and she felt rather alone away from her father. Her cousin had been discovered onboard and murdered a few days earlier. She and MacGyver hike further into the woods, and he sets up camp for the night. That evening three Indians arrive, and the elder tells them all of the Sasquatch legend. The next morning they come upon the men from the ship, who are engaged in siphoning oil from a pipeline. They will kill the girl if they can, since she is a potential witness. As it turns out, one of the men is the "Sasquatch", and he and MacGyver fight it out in the forest. Finally Karin and MacGyver are rescued by helicopter, and back at the work station MacGyver is still impressed that the legend may be true.
MacGyver: Yeah, the guy had me going for awhile.
Joanna: You must be kidding. Bigfoot?
MacGyver: Why not? The legend had to start somewhere.
