MacGyver and Pete go on vacation to a ski resort. They have stopped to rest on a mountain slope when a man awkwardly skis into MacGyver and knocks him down. He introduces himself as Phil and apologizes, claiming to be a novice skier. He rushes on and a few minutes later is shot by Arnie, a hired gun working for Sam Leland. The sound of the gunshot precipitates an avalanche. MacGyver is still on the slope, going for one last ski run. Pete and a rescue crew free a frostbitten MacGyver from a snowdrift. In the process Pete breaks his leg. Leland, believing that Phil passed incriminating microfilm to MacGyver, has him followed and kidnapped when he leaves his apartment to get some food for the disabled Pete. MacGyver escapes from the crooks, but when he returns to his apartment, Pete is gone. Leland calls MacGyver and demands the microfilm in exchange for Pete. MacGyver, who had noticed that one of the ski poles was not his, locates the microfilm with its proof that Leland has been skimming from the mob. Arriving at Leland's laundry a little early, MacGyver makes use of the equipment and soon captures Leland and his men. Unfortunately, Pete slips on the wet floor there and breaks his other leg.
