FINAL APPROACH
Episode 2-05 [027]
27 October 1986
MacGyver flies into the wilderness to help supervise a group of troubled street kids as part of a Phoenix project. As they are returning from the trip, the pilot has a heart attack and the plane crashes, leaving them stranded. They make camp for the night. The next morning MacGyver must deal with a snake and Tommy, one of the four teenagers, who has left hoping to get help for them. MacGyver follows and rescues him from a mountain lion. Back at the camp Luther, who believes that street gang leader Ramon killed his brother, chases after the youth with the intention of getting revenge. As they struggle Ramon doubles over in pain, and Luther gains the upper hand. However, MacGyver convinces Luther not to kill him. Realizing that Ramon has internal injuries from the plane crash, MacGyver begins work on repairing the plane. Tommy and Gina help MacGyver but Luther refuses. Luther then follows MacGyver's advice, talks to Ramon, and learns that the gang leader did not kill his brother, but he became leader because it appeared that he had. Luther joins in to create a 300-yard mud trough in an open field so the damaged plane can lift off. MacGyver gets the plane airborne and transports Ramon to the hospital. The others stay behind and are picked up soon after.
MacGyver: We both know nothing's going to happen out here, Geena, so why don't we cut the act? This is about someone else, isn't it?
