THE WISH CHILD

Lisa Chan asks her friend MacGyver to pick up her younger brother Paul from a birthday party in Chinatown. At the "party" a man named Stone is presenting Paul as "The Wish Child", a child that legend claims can bring eternal life to the person who possesses him. MacGyver attempts to join the group but is instead beaten up by two men and dumped in a crate on a transport ship. He escapes and gives a quick story to the workmen there. Again he finds Paul and tries to reason with him as they hide in the alley. However, the pair are attacked, and in the confusion Paul eludes MacGyver. Paul then returns to Stone, who in turn hands the boy over to Lee Wenying. Meanwhile, MacGyver goes to see Dr. Shen Wei, who has studied the legend and located Paul for Lee Wenying. The doctor is attacked but is able to tell MacGyver where Paul is being held before dying. MacGyver then sneaks aboard the ship where Paul was taken and rescues him. The frantic Lee, who believes his life must be interwined with the wish child, runs after them and has a fatal heart attack.
Shen Wei: He will protect the boy as long as he lives.
MacGyver: Protect him? Don't you mean keep him? You sold a 14-year-old boy into slavery.
