$60 million in diamonds raised by Senator Rhodes to create a famine fund is stolen by Catlin, a wealthy playboy and casino owner in the Virgin Islands. Chris, the senator's daughter, is a peace corps volunteer and determined to help MacGyver in the plan to steal the diamonds back. Once inside Catlin's casino MacGyver makes a set of loaded die in order to win... and gain access to the casino vault. After seeing the vault he realizes Catlin must keep the diamonds in his personal safe. Catlin discovers he cheated, and MacGyver runs for his life. Back at the apartment, he arms Chris with a ring to mark cards and a magnet to unbalance the casino table. They return to the casino later, and MacGyver gets into Catlin's room, where a pet bird helps him gain entry to the safe. Chris purposely causes a riot to break out at the gambling tables in the casino. In the confusion MacGyver is able to escape with the diamonds, but Chris is caught by Catlin and his men as she tries to drive away from the casino. While waiting for her to return, MacGyver receives a call from Catlin demanding the diamonds in exchange for Chris. Once he hands over the diamonds, they are locked in the back of Catlin's airplane, along with the convertible, and the plane takes off. Catlin is angry because she scratched him with the ring, and tells the pilot to take it up to 30,000 feet which will deprive them of oxygen. Meanwhile though, MacGyver has attached parachutes to the car, and they drive out the back of the plane.

MacGyver: Your name's MacGyver? That's amazing. So's mine.
