It's About Time

I like to think of myself as a pretty tech-savvy, but I have missed writing a blog. It's about time I started.

I like to think of myself as a pretty tech-savvy guy. I have a BSEE and an MSEE, I've been programming for over 35 years, I've been working with personal computers for over 25 years, I've been building web pages for over 10 years. But I have completely missed starting a blog. So when I saw an article about blogging software on the MacWorld site this week, I thought "It's about time."

So I downloaded iBlog this morning (not in the article, BTW, but in the comments!), and decided to have at it. I'm not sure what I'm going to write, but I think I have something to contribute. And if it points more people to my shareware, or if it gets me more consulting clients, so much the better.

I will be writing my own eclectic mix of stuff here. I'm planning to concentrate on tech (and particularly Mac) issues, but I don't intend to limit myself. I guess like all new things, this one will grow and change, and I have no idea where it will lead. But it's time that I started.

A word about the Blog title. About 20 years ago, when I was first inventing my brand of personal computer support, I started a little in-house newsletter that I called Cybernetic Salad . The intention then was to include little tidbits of information that would help folks use their computers. I chose the name because Cybernetic implied computers, though it isn't exactly what it means, and salad implied that the newsletter would be made up of lots of tasty items. The newsletter didn't last more than a few issues (it was superseded by other publications at the company), but I've always liked the name, and when I decided to write a blog, I thought the name was perfect.
