Steven
Neet
Steven Thomas Neet was born to parents Archie
and Betty (Cookus) Neet on Feb. 24, 1948, in Omaha, Neb. He was
baptized and confirmed in Beatrice, Neb. He graduated from the
Arlington High School and went to Dana College in Blair, Neb.
At college, he met Pamela Peterson and they
were united in marriage on April 7, 1968, in Canby. In May of
1968, Steve entered the United States Army and was stationed in
Korea and California. He was honorably discharged in May of 1971.
He returned to college in Willmar where completed the Police Science
program. His first job was working as a park ranger at Sibley
State Park. In 1973, he got a job with the Big Stone County Sheriff's
Department. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for two and a half years.
In 1976, they moved to Sauk Center where he managed a grocery
store and also was able to work part-time for the Sauk Center
Police Department. He was full-time and in seven and a half years
worked his way up to Assistant Chief. In 1982, he began working
for the Long Prairie Police Department as a Police Chief and retired
from the department in 2003. Steve was especially proud of his
D.A.R.E. program.
Steve died at his residence in Marshall under
the care of Prairie Home Hospice on Thursday, September 1, 2005.
He had reached the age of 57 years, 6 months and 7 days.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, of Marshall;
two children, Kristin (and Troy) Holien of Marshall and Darin
(and Alison) of Zimmerman; three grandchildren, Rayne and Jenna
Holien, of Marshall and Emma Neet, of Zimmerman; two sisters,
Deborah (and Frank) Schulkey, of Kennard, Neb., and Jane (and
Mel) Canell, of North Platte, Neb; also many other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and
a nephew, Brandon Schulkey.
Steve was a member of First Lutheran Church,
and it's choir; an American Red Cross Board member, Veterans of
Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Harley Owner's Group.
Dennis
D. Nelson
Funeral service for Dennis D. Nelson, 61, were
held Saturday, Nov. 26, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with
Pastor Barbara Stroud-Borth, Pastor Patty Moe, Pastor Jon Hartman
and Pastor Jeff Funderburg officiating.
Nelson died as a result of a truck accident
north of Ivanhoe on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005.
For special music, Gordie Jordahl sang "More
Than Conquerers", "How Great Thou Art", and "Amazing
Grace"; Steven Hoseck played "Battle Hymn of the Republic"
as a trumpet solo; Jacque Leis sang "I Can Only Imagine"
and the Schuelke Sisters: Jacque Leis, Joan Zaiser, Mary Kvam,
Sandra Reger, Rose Wold, and Jeanne Dooley sang "My Tribute"
with Joan Zaiser as the organist. Honorary casketbearers were
his grandchildren. The active casketbearers were Darin Eichens,
Derek Melbostad, Milt Goplen, Bill Kruckman, Kevin Monson, LeRoy
Olson, Dennis Schule and Tom Schutz. Interment was in Grace Lutheran
Cemetery in Dawson, with the U.S. flag presented by Archie Johnson
and playing of "Taps" by Steven Hoseck.
Dennis Duane Nelson was born Jan. 22, 1944,
in Madison, to Walter and Myrtle (Radmer) Nelson. He was baptized
at Ness Lutheran Church on July 23, 1944, and his Affirmation
of Baptism was at Garfield Lutheran Church on Sept. 28, 1958.
Nelson graduated from Madison High School on May 28, 1962. Following
graduation, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving until
April 1967, and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve
on March 31, 1970. He returned home from boot camp and started
farming until the winter of 1966. He moved to Minneapolis in 1967,
where he met Roxanne E. Cronberg. Paul and Tammy were born to
this union. While in Minneapolis, he stayed busy with Law Enforcement
until January of 1969, when he started driving truck for Dawson
Mills. Here, he met and made many life-long friends. In December
of 1977, this marriage with Roxanne ended, and on June 30, 1979,
Dennis married Sandra E. Nelson. Together, this union brought
Sherri and Lori into this beloved family. Continuing in September
of 1997, Dennis showed his love for his family and love for his
wife, even through their illnesses, as he cared for Sandy with
her struggle with cancer until her death on Sept. 20, 1999.
He enjoyed his final six years, staying busy
and enjoying friends and loved ones. He had many special hobbies:
helping others with many tasks, whether it was helping Kenny on
the farm, or son, Paul at the shop, or mowing lawn for friends,
or just visiting friends and family.
He thoroughly loved his nine grand-kids, from
special occasions to even those many phone calls. He also loved
sending birthday cards and remembering everyone else. His hobby
was devoting his time to everyone.
He is survived by his children: Paul (Jenny)
Nelson of rural Canby, Tammy ( Frank) Heineken of Concordia, Mo.,
Sherri Melbostad of Shakopee, and Lori Nelson of Granite Falls;
9 grandchildren: Trisha, Derek, Darin, Frankie, Ryan, Dustin,
Miranda, Brooke, and Alexis; mother, Myrtle Nelson and sister-in-law,
Diane Nelson of rural Madison; brothers: Roger Nelson of rural
Milan, Walter Bruce (Geraldine) Nelson of Minneapolis, and Douglas
(Jill) Nelson of Madison; sister, Patty (Duane) Moe of Lakeville;
mother-in-law, Eldona Bacon of Dawson; brothers-in-law, David
(Muriel) Bacon of Mission, Texas and Terry Bacon of Dawson; and
sister-in-law, Becky Bacon of Forest Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter
Nelson; wife, Sandra; brothers: Bobby, David, and Kenneth Nelson;
and father-in-law, Norman Bacon.
John "Bud" Nelson
John Nelson, 84, passed away in Glenwood Springs,
CO on December 1, 2004 after a battle with cancer. Cremation and
a memorial service were held on December 9, 2004 at the Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, Glenwood Springs, CO.
Nelson was a graduate of Canby High School.
He served in the Navy in the Philippines during WWII. In 1953
he moved to Lancaster, California where he married Ruth. In 1979
they moved to Glenwood Springs, CO.
Nelson was a member of the Masons and VFW and
an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Glenwood
Springs, CO. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
He is survived by his wife; five daughters,
Janet (Bob) Jordan, Brunswick, Ca, Kathy (Bob) Dahl, Whitewater,
CO, Dolores (John) Taylor, Boise, ID, Toni (Rex) Hair, Quartz
Hill, CA and Linda (Larry) Beckwith, Glenwood Springs, CO; one
son, Ray (Linda) Estrella, Quartz Hill, CA; 16 grandchildren,
26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Nelson
Rosalie Nelson, of Dawson, died Sunday morning,
May 14, 2006, at her home at the age of 68.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 18,
at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall
Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-7:30
p.m. at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
Rosalie Jean (Thovson) Nelson was born March
28, 1938, at Porter, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Ulfkin)
Thovson. She grew up in the Porter and Canby area and attended
school there. She worked at Swift & Co. in Marshall, at Schott's
in Minneota and Marshall, and at MTI in Montevideo. She was united
in marriage with Marvin Nelson June 21, 1997, at Garfield Lutheran
Church, rural Madison. They made their home in Dawson. Rosalie
enjoyed camping, listening to country music, fishing, dancing
and reading. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family and
friends.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin; three
children: Bruce Warren of Marshall, Rod Warren of Mora, and Carrie
(Troy) Anderson of Smyrna, Tenn.; eight step-children: Brian Nelson
of Dawson, Larry (Colleen) Nelson of Dawson, Kevin Nelson of Boyd,
Mark Nelson of Willmar, Terry Nelson of Willmar, Randy (Katie)
Nelson of Dawson, Rick Nelson of Dawson, and Melissa Nelson of
Willmar; 11 grandchildren; four sisters: Beverly Carlson of St.
Louis Park, Alona (Don) Cahow of Minneota, Nancy Bacon of Sarasota,
Fla., and Jane (Dorance) McCarthy of Adrian; and her mother-in-law,
Ida Nelson of Madison.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her
father-in-law; and one granddaughter, Stacey Nelson; and one nephew,
Dennis Prelwitz.
Aloysius
Nosbosh
Mass of Christian Burial for Aloysius P.
"Al" Nosbush, 81, of Canby, will be held at 10:30 a.m.
on Friday, Feb. 25, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canby, with
Father Tony Hesse as Celebrant and Father Peter Nosbush as Con-celebrant.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter?s Catholic
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
on Thursday at the Birk Funeral Home in Canby, with a parish scripture
service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary. Visitation will
continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to Mass.
Nosbush died on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at the
Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.
Aloysius Peter Nosbush was born on March 15,
1923, on a farm near St. Leo to Peter and Sophia (Eischens)
Nosbush. He grew up on the family farm, and was baptized,
received his first Holy Communion, and was confirmed at St. Leo
Catholic Church, where he also attended parochial school.
Following his education he worked as a farmer
and also did carpentry work, before entering the U.S. Army in
March of 1945 and serving his country during World War II. He
was honorably discharged in January of 1947 and returned to his
home area.
On Nov. 25, 1953, he was married to Dorothy
Fieber at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Madison, Minnesota.
To this union eight children were born: Carol, Mike, Pat,
Greg, Steve, Dennis, Stan, and Rob. Al farmed for many years,
and later moved into a home in Canby.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church
in Canby. Some of his enjoyments in life included doing
carpentry, visiting, playing cards, attending auctions, and spending
time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his
children: Carol of Canby, Michael (and Mary) of Gary, S.D.,
Pat (and Barbara) of Owatonna, Greg (and Shawn) of Sioux Falls,
S.D., Steve (and Colleen) of Sioux Falls, Dennis (and Lori) of
Canby, Stan (and Terra) of Cumberland, Wis., and Rob (and Laurie)
of Buffalo; his grandchildren: Jennifer, Jesse, Crystal, Andrew,
Darin, Nicole, Ashley, Brady, Sarah, Kylie, Jeremy, Courtney,
Kadence, Layton, Merceda, Jacob, Sophia, Kristina, Daniel, Morgan,
Katie, Heidi, Ben, Lindsey, Jael, Bethany, Lydia, and Abigail;
and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two
brothers: Lawrence (and Marie) of New Ulm, and Ambrose of Fairfax;
one sister, Sister Edna of Good Counsel Hill in Mankato; and by
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one
grandson; four sisters; and five brothers.
Jack Nosbusch
Jack Henry Nosbusch, 59, Princeton, died
at his home on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
Nosbusch was born on Oct. 25, 1946, at Canby,
son of Leo and Viola (Pohlen) Nosbusch. He graduated from Mahnomen
High School in 1964. He served in the US Army in 1966 and 1967.
After his honorable discharge, he completed the Police Academy.
His service on the Minneapolis Police Department started on Jan.
13, 1969. He received his associate of arts degree in Criminal
Justice from North Hennepin Community College in 1975. He retired
from the Minneapolis Police Department at the rank ofsergeant
on April 26, 1997. After retirement, he stayed busy with employment
at American Family Insurance; SIU; the Department of Homeland
Security; Jack's Sporting Goods and Marigold Foods.
He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Elk
River Sportsman's Club. Professional memberships also included
Iowa SIA national and Minnesota, IAATI, AVCAM and Minnesota
Police and Peace Officers Association.
Survivors include his sister: Phyllis Krueger
of New Ulm; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: his
sisters: Clarice LaVoy and Carrol Swiger; and a brother-in-law:
Donald L. Krueger.
The funeral was held Monday, Feb. 6, at Our
Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Burial was at Ft.
Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapoli.
Roger Ostroot
Roger Ostroot, 72 of Pine River, formerly
of Canby, died Dec. 8, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Roger Allen Ostroot was born Sept. 10, 1933,
to James and Nyla (Bisbee) Ostroot in Albert Lea. During
his childhood he lived in Big Lake and Lanesboro and later moved
to Granite Falls where he graduated from high school. He
attended St. Olaf College and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery
Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He practiced
dentistry for a year and a half in Robbinsdale and began his own
practice in Canby in 1960. In addition to his practice of
dentistry he taught dental assisting at Southwestern Technical
College until his retirement in 1992. At that time he
and his wife moved to Lake Ada near Pine River.
Ostroot was active in the community and held
offices in his churches, dental societies, Rotary Club, Canby
city council, Canby medical staff, Headstart, other educational
programs and the Lake Ada Association. He especially enjoyed
traveling, history, classical music, singing in the church choir,
promoting lake ecology and being with family and friends.
Survivors are his wife, Karen, whom he
married in 1954. Children are daughter Kristin Bolte-Ostroot
(Herbert) and grandchildren Hannah, David, Micha, and Daniel
of Wunnenberg, Germany and son Eric Ostroot (Patricia) and grandchildren
James, Erin, Angela and Mark of Kasson. Also included
is one brother, John Ostroot (Joan) of Houston Texas, a nephew,
three nieces, several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and
daughter, Solveig.
A celebration of life service is planned for
Jan. 28 at 1:30 pm at First Lutheran Church in Pine River with
pastor John Twiton officiating.
Internment will be at a later date in the Canby
Cemetery.
Clarence LeRoy Ouverson
Funeral services for Clarence LeRoy Ouverson,
79, were held on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Light of Christ Lutheran
Church, Delano. Interment was at the Delano Public Cemetery. Mr.
Ouverson passed away on March 16, 2005 at the Delano Health Care
Center.
Clarence LeRoy Ouverson was born August 25,
1925 in Fortier Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to
Ernest & Marie (Jesme) Ouverson. He was baptized into the
Lutheran faith at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Canby.
Ouverson was united in marriage to Edith Paulson
on June 11, 1948 in Canby.
He was a member of the Delano Sportsman's Club
& the Watertown Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,
traveling, being with his family and watching the Delano basketball
teams.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Janice
(Joe) Kittok, Delano, Joanne (Kevin) Baumgartner, Aitkin; eight
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters,
Frances Hoffman, Lola Ouverson, Margery (Leon) Van de Veire, Nina
(Ken) Benz, all of Canby, Margaret molnau, Red Wing, Bernice (Richard)
Swedzinski, Champlin, Lorraine VanKeulen, New Ulm, Mavis (Tom)
Garrett, Little Canada, and Elden (Adrienne) Ouverson , Pine City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one
son, David L. Ouverson; brothers and sisters, Lee and Zona Ouverson,
Ray Ouverson, Corrine Hormann-Charles, Orlan Hormann, Erwin Molnau,

Overby
Norman Overby, 83, of Hendricks, passed away
March 7, 2006, at the Hendricks Community Hospital in Hendricks.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, at
Woodlake Lutheran Church, rural Astoria, S.D., with Rev. Herb
Wounded Head III officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 9 from
5 to 7:30 p.m. at Birk Funeral Home in Hendricks with a prayer
service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to
the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Woodlake
Cemetery, rural Astoria, S.D.
Norman Overby, the son of Gustav and Signe (Anderson)
Overby was born on July 29, 1922 in Scandinavia Township, Astoria,
S.D. He grew up on a farm and attended country school and graduated
from Astoria High School in 1940.
On June 26, 1943, he married Coralie Ronning
at First Lutheran Church, Hendricks. Together Norman and Coralie
were able to share over 62 years of marriage. Four children were
born to this union. The couple farmed in the Astoria area until
1980 when they retired and moved into Hendricks.
Norman was a life long member of Woodlake Lutheran
Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He held several offices
in the church over his lifetime. Norman sang in the choir and
the men's group. Norman served as clerk of Scandinavia Township,
a Director of Volga Creamery, a Director of the Astoria Elevator,
member of the Hendricks Kiawanis Club and a volunteer with the
senior nutrition program. Among the things he enjoyed were fishing,
reading, singing, taking care of his yard and he thought the world
of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norman and Coralie
enjoyed time spent with their family on holidays and his family
outings.
Norman is survived by his wife, Coralie of Hendricks; four children,
Gail (Valgean) Johnson of Pipestone; Gregory (Dianna) Overby of
Clark, S.D.; Richard (Carol) Overby of Brookings, S.D.; and Noreen
Overby of Brookings, S.D.; 13 grandchildren, Dana (Doyle) Trankel;
Jason (Carol) Overby; Darren (Julie) Johnson; Barry Overby, Carrie
(Brian) Rehnke; Ryan Overby; Robyn Overby; Dustin (Jessica) Fickbohm;
Jeremy Overby (fiancée Carrie); Matthew (Erin) Johnson;
Amber (Benjamin) Hauger; Andrea Overby and Nicholas Fickbohm;
eleven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Corey, and Collin Trankel;
Griffin, Savannah, Liberty, and Fletcher Johnson; Madison Overby;
Abigail and Grace Fickbohm; Dylan Rehnke; one sister, Selma Anderson
of Canby, MN; two sisters-in-law, Helen Overby of Hendricks; and
Beverly Lenvik of Santa Barbara, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents,
three brothers, Emil, Sigurd and Trygve and one sister, Gladys
Hogie. Blessed be his memory.
Mayme
Palm
Funeral services for Mayme H. Palm, 102,
of Canby will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in Canby, with Rev. Katherine Rood officiating.
Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery.
Karen Olsen will be the organist, with the congregation
singing "Because He Lives" and "This World Is Not
My Home". There will be special music by Bruce Melby,
singing "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "The
Lord?s Prayer". The casketbearers will be Elroy Severson,
Gordon Palm, Dennis Roske, Scott Swenson, Jeff Palm, and Noah
Palm.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
on Sunday at the Birk Funeral Home in Canby, and will continue
at the church on Monday, one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Palm died on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at
the Senior Haven Nursing Home in Canby.
Mayme Henrietta Jesme was born on Nov. 18, 1902,
to Peter and Mabel (Paulson) Jesme. She was baptized at
East Highland Lutheran church in Deuel County, South Dakota, and
was confirmed at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Canby, Minnesota.
In 1923 Mayme was married to Arnold Palm, and
they lived and farmed in the Canby area until they retired and
moved to Canby in 1961.
She is survived by two daughters: Mildred Johnson
of Edina, and Mabel Ann Swenson and her husband, Maynard, of Canby;
seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren;
one brother, Robert Jesme and his wife, Louise, of Canby; four
sisters: Bernice Severson of Canby, Gladys Jesme of Hendricks,
Ruth Jesme of Canby, and Deloris Griffith of Farmington,
New Mexico; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Arnold; one son, Clayton; one son-in-law, Roy Johnson;
one brother, Ernest Jesme; and one sister, Pearl Roske.
Lois Jean (Tilbury) Payonk
Lois Jean (Tilbury) Payonk passed away December
27, 2004 at her home near Cross Lake.
Payonk was born February 2, 1934 to Clarence
and Alice (Laabs) Tilbury. She graduated from Canby High School.
She was united in marriage to Gerald J. Payonk,
May 15, 1954 in Canby.
She is survived by one daughter, Catherine (Mike)
Isaacs, two sons, Craig and Curt (Dena) all of Cross Lake; six
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Peters;
two brothers, Lowell (Janice) Tilbury of Fairmont, Eugene (Phyllis)
Tilbury of Cromwell, Ind.; her step father Clarence Marczak and
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents
and one brother, Robert.
Gail Lorne Pearson
Funeral services for Gail Lorne Pearson,
68, were held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Kviteseid Lutheran
Church in Milan. Interment was in the Swede Home Lutheran Cemetery,
Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Mr.
Pearson passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Chippewa
County - Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo.
Gail Lorne Pearson was born June 17, 1937 in
Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Harold
and Alice (Johnson) Pearson. He was baptized and confirmed at
Swede Home Lutheran Church, attended rural school and graduated
from Clarkfield High School in 1956.
Pearson served in the U. S. Army, where he was
attached to NORAD. He worked in construction including working
for Dunnick Brothers Construction for over forty years before
retiring in 2005. He enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing,
and traveling.
He is survived by a son, Gary (Shari) Pearson of Spooner, WI;
six grandchildren; two step-grandsons; one great-grandson; two
brothers, Arden (Iola) Pearson of Milan, Merle (Dorothy) Pearson
of Clarkfield; one sister, Joyce (Lew) Vold, of Clarkfield; many
nieces and nephews; and a close friend and companion, Norma Johnson
of Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and
a daughter, Sandy Weyer.
Conrad Peterson
Conrad Peterson, age 95, of Canby,
passed away on Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, in the Sioux Valley Hospital,
Canby Campus.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at Our
Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby with Rev. Katherine Rood officiating.
Burial will be in the Canby City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Feb. 12, rom 6-8
p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Birk Funeral Home
in Canby.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1910, to Edward and
Thea (Edwards) Peterson on the family farm in Norman Township,
Yellow Medicine County. He was raised there and was baptized in
the St. Stephen's Church and later confirmed in the First English
Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from the Canby High
School in 1928. Following his education, he farmed near Canby.
On Nov. 24, 1932, he was united in marriage
to Mabel Gjestvang in the First English Lutheran Church. On Aug.
10, 1955, Mabel passed away. Conrad owned and operated the Road
Builder's, Inc. Construction Company until 1957 when he went to
work for McLaughlin & Schultz Construction.
On Dec. 3, 1959, he married Winifred (Nordmeyer)
Beiningen. Following their marriage, the couple made their home
in Canby. In 1964, he started his own business, Conrad O. Peterson
Trucking, which he operated until 2002. In October of 2003, he
entered the Senior Haven Nursing Home in Canby.
He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
in Canby. He was the clerk of Norman Township for nine years and
on the school board for 15 years. Hewas an avid fisherman, fishing
all year, and enjoyed sports, family gatherings and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred Peterson

He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Mabel, one son, Dennis; brothers, Archie and Elroy Peterson; sister,
Mildred Ludtke and parents.
Myrtle Peterson
Myrtle Elnora (Skovly) Pederson was born
to Martin and Louise (Berger) Skovly on March 25, 1914, in Norden
Township, Deuel County, South Dakota.
She died Oct. 25, 2005, in Newport Beach, Calif.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 14, 2005,
at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks with Pastor
Duane Baun officiating and Pastor Johan Hinderlie preaching. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Nov. 14. Burial
will be at the Hendricks East Cemetery immediately following the
funeral service with a lunch served at Christ Lutheran.
Myrtle married Nels Pederson of Hendricks, Minnesota
on April 28, 1939. In November 1941, they moved to Minneapolis
where Nels worked in the ammunition plant of Minneapolis Moline.
Following World War II, Nels and Myrtle farmed north of Hendricks
until they returned to Minneapolis in 1952.
While raising a family in Minneapolis, Myrtle
worked in a variety of jobs including baking Lefse and other Scandinavian
"goodies" for area bakeries and groceries. For two decades
she was Head Chef for the Endicott Restaurant in St. Paul.
Throughout her life God graciously provided
for her spiritual growth through Christian congregations: Woodlake
Lutheran; Calvary Lutheran, Hendricks; Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha
Falls, Minneapolis; Grace Lutheran, Huntington Beach, Calif.;
and Reformation Lutheran, Westminster, Calif.
Myrtle is survived by Milan (son) and Kathy
Pederson of Schaumburg, Illinois. Milan's family includes: Michael
(Grandson) and Bernadette Pederson, and their children Amy and
Christopher (Great Grandchildren); Tammy (Granddaughter) and Scott
Redman; Shelly and Tom Haimann, and their children Rebecca and
Cassandra; and Andy Prahl.
Myrtle is survived by Clifton (son) and Janelle
Pederson of Huntington Beach, California with whom she lived the
last seven years of her life. Clifton's family includes: Michal
(Granddaughter) and Stephen Margala, and their children Isaiah,
Zoe and Zachary (Great Grandchildren); Aaron (Grandson) and Kristen
Pederson, and their children Eve, Gabriel and Mara (Great Grandchildren);
and Maren Pederson (Granddaughter).
In addition to her immediate family, Myrtle
is survived by two sisters-in-law, Hilda Pederson and Luella Pederson,
who both live in the Hendricks Nursing Home.
Myrtle is also survived by seven Nieces and
Nephews and their families: Beverly (Skovly) Johnson, Astoria,
S.D.; Louise (Skovly) Gadbois, Holyoke, Mass.; Leonard Skovly,
Estelline, S.D.; Helen (Skovly) Squires, Hayti, S.D.; Charlotte
(Olson) Ueland, Marshall; Kermit Almos, Columbus, Ohio; Barbara
(Almos) Sulton, Sarasota, Fla.
Ronald John Pierce
Ronald John Pierce passed away on Oct. 27,
2005 after a long and valiant battle with colon cancer.
Ron was born to Antonette Tholkes and Nicholas
Pierce on Nov. 13, 1930, in St. Leo. He grew up on the family
farm, attended a one-room school house and graduated from Clarkfield
High School in 1948. He went into the Air Force, became an optician
and worked for Benson Optical making artificial eyes at the Mayo
Clinic in Rochester.
He lived in Atlanta, New Orleans, and finally
moved to Miami in 1972. He retired as the S.E. District Manager
for Replacement Lens, Inc. in 1987. Ron was a kind and gentle
man, a great friend and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was pre-deceased by stepson George Garcia,
his sister, Margaret Eischens, brother Roman and is survived by
his wife of 33 years, Teresa Medel Pierce, children Kimberly Clark
(Brian), Scott, Kerry (Lauri), Jayna (Shawn) and Todd; his dearly
beloved grandchildren Joshua and Jordan Clark, Nicholas Pierce,
Nevin Reel, Sarah and Morgan Pierce and Eric Tejeiro, mother-in-law
Candy Valcarce, brother and sister-in-law Drs. Roger and Ginger
Medel, as well as many nieces, nephews, the "group",
and good friends in Minnesota, Michigan and Miami. Ron loved sports.
His passion was football, but also enjoyed watching
golf and baseball and taking his son to Twins baseball games years
ago. He loved to play poker at the casino and he loved to fish,
from trips to Canada years ago, to taking his grandsons fishing
off of Marco Island. The last few years he delighted in the "fishing
reports" phoned in Sundays from son-in-law Brian.

Martha Ann Polfliet
Mass of Christian Burial for Martha Ann (Buysse)
Polfliet, 84, of Marshall was held Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church in Marshall.
Burial was at St. Clotilde Catholic cemetery
in Green Valley.
She died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, with care
provided by Prairie Home Hospice at Avera Marshall Regional Medical
Center.
She was born June 2, 1921, in Marshall to Peter and Bessie (Kiley)
Buysse. She was baptized and confirmed in Green Valley.
On Aug. 27, 1941, she was married to Edmund Polfliet. They farmed
in Green Valley before moving to Taunton. In Taunton, Martha worked
for Kerrís Hatchery, Schott Corporation, and assisted Ed
with the ceramic business.
During her retirement in Taunton she was very
active with the Senior Citizens Center and St. Cyril & Methodius
Catholic Church. Edmund passed away on April 23, 1999. In June,
2003 Martha moved to Marshall where she resided at Marshall Square
Apartments. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, quilting, and
completing the daily Cryptoquip. She volunteered her services
at the local Food Shelf, Senior Dining Center and Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church. In April, 2000, she was named Woman of the Year
for the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her children; John (Karen)
of Hector, Carol (Ken) Weedman of Amiret, Mary (Jerry) Otto of
Alexandria, Marilyn (Kevin) Weedman of Alexandria, and Margaret
(Dave) Olafson of Marshall. Nine grandchildren; Jason (Dana) Polfliet,
Mandy (Tracy) Kirschbaum, Lisa (Terry) Smith, Kim (Darwin) Patzlaff,
Brian (Catherine) Weedman, Angie (Shane) Johnson, Stacy (David)
Rynders, Eric Weedman and Blaise (Desiree) Olafson. Seven great
grandchildren: Damian and Trinity Kirschbaum, Alyssa and Madison
Smith, Blake Weedman, Aundrea Johnson, and Alex Rynders. Sister:
Lucille (Alex) Polfliet of Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband
and one grandchild, Lori Ann Weedman.
Marilyn Prellwitz
Funeral Service for Marilyn Prellwitz will
be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Hope Lutheran Church in
Minneota.
Visitation
will be from 4 p.m. 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota on Friday and
will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
Interment will follow the service at Alta Vista
Cemetery in Alta Vista Township.
Marilyn Ruth (Routhe) Prellwitz was born on
March 24, 1936, in Redwood Falls, to Walter and Ruth (Schafer,
Dornfeld) Routhe. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School
in 1953. On Feb. 13, 1954, Marilyn was united in marriage to Leslie
Prellwitz at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. The
couple spent many years farming the family farms. In 1975 they
began a trucking business. Marilyn enjoyed playing cards, sewing
and her pet Corkie (toy poodle). In order to be closer to her
daughter, Marilyn moved to Easley, S.C., in November, 2005.
She died on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Countryside
Village in Easley, S.C.
She is survived by her children Dixie (Richard)Barnes
of Aberdeen, Randy (DJ) Prellwitz of Minneota, Glenda Bottelberghe
of Morgan, Julie (Jay) Schlecht of Easley, S.C., Pam Citterman
of Minneota, 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers
Hal (Elaine) Routhe, Don Routhe, Chuck (Jean) Routhe, Tom (Josie)
Routhe, Roger Routhe, sister-in-law Leona Routhe, nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband
and brother Floyd.
William Day Prindle, Jr.
Funeral services for Wlliam Day Prindle,
Jr., 87, were held on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006. Mr. Prindle passed
away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home,
Montevideo.
William Day Prindle, Jr. was born on July 2,
1918, in Minneapolis to William day Prindle, Sr. and Genevieve
(Griffith) Prindle. He was baptized and confirmed at Hennepin
Avenue Methodist Church. He graduated from West High School in
1936 and attended the University of Minnesota earning a B.A. degree
in 1938, B.S.S. in 1939 and J.D. degree in 1942.
He was united in marriage to Florence jackson,
April 25, 1942 in Minneapolis. Immediaely following his graduation
he entered the United States Army seeing action in the European
Theatre of Operations with the 3rd Army, 20th Corps Artillery.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars with Oak Clusters and honorably
discharged in 1946. Upon reurning to Minnesota he began his law
career and was then called back into service with the National
Guard 175th Field Artillery unit and was stationed in Korea during
the Korean War. While there he prepared war crimes and court martial
cases of the United States government. After settling in Montevideo
he founded the Prindle Maland Stennes Sellner Knutsen & Stermer
Law Firm. He served as the Chippewa County attorney from 1954-1966.
Upon his retirement from law practice he moved to Gary, S.D. where
he founded theDeuel Enterprises, Inc. a family Bible publishing
co.
Prindle was very active in his commmunity and church, seving on
numerous boards and committees including the United Methodist
Church and Brookside Manor Building Committees. He taught adult
sunda school for 28 years, served as legal counsel for the Montevideo
American Legion; was a member of the American Bar Association,
American Trial Lawyers Association, the International Society
of Barristers, a Master msason of Sunset masonic Lodge #109, the
Kiwanis Club and numerous other community and civic organizations.
He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Barbara
(Daniel) Graff, Minneapolis, Mary (Joel) Lynne, Montevideo, William
(Kathleen) Prindle, Eau Claire, WI, Carrie (Paul) Gervais, Montevideo
and seven grandsons.
He was precede in death by his parents, a daughter,
Florence Prindle Ronning; a sister, Dorothy Prindle Johnson and
a brother, Chrales C. Prindle.

Funeral services for Viola E. Skifte, 99,
of Canby, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, at Our
Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby, with Rev. Katherine Rood officiating.
Burial will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery.
Karen Olsen will be the organist, with the congregation
singing "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", "Softly
And Tenderly", and "Children Of The Heavenly Father".
The casketbearers will be Robert Briggs, Greg West, Darrin
West, Dale Anhalt, Galen Hegg, and Harvey Knutson.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the
services at the church on Monday.
Mrs. Skifte died on Thursday, March 3, at the
Senior Haven Nursing Home in Canby. The Birk Funeral Home
in Canby is in charge of the arrangements.
Viola E. Skifte was born on May 6, 1905 in Fortier
Township, rural Canby, Minnesota, to Oscar and Jennie (Pederson)
Anderson. She was a 1925 graduate of Canby High School.
On September 10, 1927 she married James O. Hegg in Waukegan,
Illinois. They lived in Canby above the hardware store,
then moved to the Hegg farm in 1929 and began farming. James
died on August 18, 1953, and a year later Viola moved into Canby.
On January 28, 1961 Viola was married to Oscar
Skifte at Our Saviour?s Lutheran Church, and they resided in Canby.
Viola was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
and the Ladies? Aid. She was an excellent seamstress, and
her hobbies included quilting, refinishing antique furniture,
and collecting antique dishes. In addition, she volunteered
many hours at the MECCA museum, and also served on its Board of
Directors. Viola attended Canby?s 125th celebration, and
at the All-School Reunion received an award for being the oldest
living Canby graduate. She had been a resident of Sylvan
Place and Senior Haven Nursing Home prior to her death.
Viola is survived by her two children: Janice
(and husband Robert) Jump of Pattonsburg, Missouri, and
Marian (and husband Walter) Skyberg of Stillwater, Minnesota;
six grandchildren: Kris Skyberg, Karena Skyberg, Greg
West, Darrin West, Linnea Chesmer, and Jennifer Blair; eight great-grandchildren;
and her brother, Thomas Anderson of Agoura Hills, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, James; husband, Oscar; five brothers: Clarence,
Gordon, Helmer, Rudolph, and Harlan; and two sisters: Linnea
and Nina.
