Scrub Bashing at Tunbridge Wells Lagoons

I am organising a Sussex Amphibian and Reptile Group (SARG) day out at redundant lagoons near Groombridge (between Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells). The plan is to cut back as much of the encroaching scrub , particularly on  the many south facing slopes used for basking  - so that we can continue to record the herpetofauna population on the site.

We are also going to put down rolls of roofing felt along the banks in an attempt to create permanent basking sites that don't need continual  maintenance.

There are all the herps on site and I guarantee you will see Adders, Grass snakes and Slow-worm by the bagfull!

Southern Water are paying for the hire of strimmers and roofing felt (THANKS ADELA) but any additional tools are welcome.

If you are interested in attending this September event please email Bary Kemp for dates and directions.
