Forthcoming Events

Things seem to have been quiet on the blog front over the past few weeks. Rest assured that does not mean a paucity of activities. It's just that being so busy, I find it difficult to keep the blog up to date at this time of year. Some of the events planned for the next couple of weeks are detailed below. Do consider coming along!

This coming Sunday (22nd May) members of KRAG and the Kent Field Club will be visiting Park Gate Down. This KWT reserve is an important site for many rare orchids. It is also a fantastic reptile site and although several species are known to occur, actual verified records are rather sparse. Following our visit, I hope to take folks over to my adder study site at Quilters Wood. Big things are planned for this site and I hope to detail these over the coming weeks.

The following Saturday (28th May) I will be running my last amphibian survey training course of the year. The course will be held at Wat Tyler Country Park in Essex and will provide a gentle introduction to the survey techniques employed when looking for frogs, toads and newts.

On 4th June I will be running a reptile survey training course on behalf of the Kent High Weald Countryside Project (KHWP). The course will aim to train volunteers so that they can participate in the 'adders in decline' project. KHWP have two sites that have been prepared for reptile monitoring and participants are encouraged to collect survey information throughout the year.

More details on these and other events can be found in my diary - accessed through the link in my sidebar.
