News on the KRAG Recording Database

I have just put the finishing touches to the latest version of the KRAG recording database and thought that it might be an good time to give an update on progress.

The database has had a total re-vamp. Not only does it hold observations on the different species recorded across the county, but I have now added the ability to record information on sites themselves. Why is this important? As well as generating lists of records that can be used to publish distribution maps, we will soon be able to generate reports on individual sites. This will make the process of identifying key herp sites across the county so much easier.

The on-line KRAG recording form has been a tremendous success. During 2005, a total of 74 individual records were generated through the site. A further 37 records were supplied from the system maintained by Gemma Fairchild at RAUK. If you have any more records to add to our growing collection please do send them in!

Data from the Adders in Decline and Great Crested Newt Monitoring projects are currently being entered onto the system. Summary reports for both of these important initiatives are currently in preparation.
