My daughter named this. In fact, it could just as well be called digital picture frame number
three. But this time, the intent was absolutely to retain a fully functional computer with all
ports easily accessible.
Once again, this is an iBook portable guts. The battery was not required since it is no longer "portable", but a Combo drive is nice to have. And as you can see the powewred speakers (painted black) you can imagine the sound quiality is fairly decent. The "box" is made from wood (my favorite half-inch birch plywood), with a Plexiglas backing. All in the end painted black. |

I had in fact intended to place a picture frame around the front of the thing. I even went so far
as to cut one to the correct size and try it on. But the frame I got was cheap and looked bad and
after I thought about it a bit, it didn't look half bad without the frame. So I left it as it was.
Not a lot to see from the rear. The slot along the side with all the ports is visible. An arcade button on the top acts as the power key. Holes for ventilation along the top (and bottom, not visible). The rear panel is removable for servicing. |
