I was born in El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas, in 1949, and I have one sibling, a sister named Susan who was born three years later in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida. Growing up, our family lived in several states; Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Arkansas. My sister and I completed high school in El Dorado, Arkansas. After high school I enrolled in the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, completing my degree requirements in 1971. Upon graduation I was employed by a small certified public accounting firm, Douglas Walker & Company (completing the CPA exam in 1973) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Over time the firm merged with another firm (twice) and in 1983 I was offered a promotion to another location, San Antonio, Texas. Within in three months of the move, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (M.S.). By 1987 I qualified for the firm's long-term disability benefits and began working for a local practitioner during his peak times.
Genealogy. With more spare time, I've been able to dig deeper into the Cabaniss surname. I'm having lots of fun and learning of the accomplishments and failures of relatives.
My Macintosh. (Yes, I'm a Machead.) I know, you say "They'll be outta business any day now." Even with that thought, the platform is a joy to use. I was just amazed at the hysteria surrounding Windows '95. In the Mac community, it was referred to as "Mac '84." (1984 being the year the Macintosh was introduced with its GUI interface, mouse, and using 3.5 inch diskettes.
