THE ILLIOS
For as long as I can remember, I've been a photographer. It paid bills in school. Slowly I left the darkrooms behind and realized that now, I no longer make photographs. I make mixed media prints - a kind of supersaturated graphic fiction - and cling to my amateur standing. This is an idiosyncratic collection. Which is cool... because I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

FROM THEN TILL NOW
Trained as an economist, during the day I'm a business communicator, edit respected business magazines (www.business2businessonline.com), and othertimes I make images.

ARE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS MANIPULATED?
Well, duhhhhh! Of course they are enhanced. Like every artist I use a range of techniques to create a final work. They've taken me years to master, and I continue to learn daily. Actually, while photographically based, they are my perceptions of moments. Not sure it's accurate to call them photographs, any more than it's accurate to call a painter, sculptor, novelist, or filmmaker - a journalist. Want scientific or court photography? You've got the wrong gallery.

SKILLS
I write, take pix, do some audio and video media, and dabble in website design.

TURN ONS
Images that reveal a story arc... Or that imply a primal thought... that force the imagination to fill in either side of the captured moment. Images that sing, are poetry, that ROCK! Artists who have developed a metaphorical voice are the most impressive. I'm not looking for accuracy or originality, what I'm after is authenticity. I want to see images that invite me to look through them. Artists who show us things as they aren't/ And, I'm not a monochrome guy. Art without wonder is merely craft.

SATURATION
For too many years, shaping gray was the only real option for the amateur fine art photographer. Now, with cyber options and tack sharp equipment, creating with color and detail are the challenge. After decades in a B&W wet darkroom, technology has released me, like a child in a candy store, into a cornicopia of color. It's left me entranced with the possibilities of vivid hues which add melody to the lyrics of: shape, form, and texture. Here, everything is augmented by a super-saturated dimension that's as essential to me as other parts of a feeling.

AND THE REST as of July 09... See above.
Why is there no room anywhere on this template to rave about my wife, Rita? Our friends in Lancaster, New England and everywhere? Our families in Philly, Denmark, and Pittsburgh? Why, there's not even a space to brag about my furry dog Rocco. So... I'll make this the space.
