When did you start playing?

I’ve been into music since age 6.  I started playing guitar while traveling with my parents in the Canary Islands.  We were on the island of Grand Canaria and we lived in a house that was right on the beach.  The street was El Cid.

My father was taking music lessons.  I was watching from around the corner.  When he would leave I would pick up his guitar and practice what the instructor had attempted to teach him.  One day he caught me and I thought I was in big trouble.  To my surprise, he said, “That’s it, I quit.  The guitar is yours.”   Later, an exchange student from the United States taught me my very first song, “Mary Ann”.

When I returned to the United States, I continued playing guitar and singing, appearing in USO shows with my parents help.

Who are your musical influences?

This is a tough question to answer.  There are so many people who have influences me over the years.  Some of them in the Folk Rock genre are Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Peter, Paul and Mary, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Gordon Lightfoot.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in California and grew up on the beaches of Carlsbad and later settled in San Marcos.  I graduated from San Marcos High.
