European SkyRaces
2005 6th place - La Plagne 6000D, France
2005 13th place - Dolomites SkyRace, Italy
Part of the Buff Skyrunner World Series, these two races redefined the term "mountain running" in my eyes. The 6000D race featured 10,000 feet of climbing, 10,000 feet of descending over the 55km distance. The Dolomites skyrace climbed 5600 feet in about 10km and descended rocky talus and scree fields at an alarming slope. I held my own on the ascents (3rd overall in Italy to the summit) but got my ass handed to me on the steep, technical descents.
