Bear
Hi everyone, my name is Paya, which in the Hawaiian language I am told, means bear. My foster mom calls me ‘Bear’ and I really like it. I am a 4 or 5 year old nurtured, long hair, male Chihuahua. My coat is 2 inches to 3 inches long, black and shiny . I was found at the animal shelter and had bad fleas and real long toenails. I don’t remember much about my past but I feel better now and my hair is coming back in where I chewed so much. I was at the vets March 15, 2008 and got all my shots, teeth cleaned and neutered. I really like my foster mom and my foster dad is okay. Kids are great! I was hanging out with some 13 to 7 years olds on Saint Patrick’s Day and I just love getting into their laps and having gentle fun. Strangers are my hang up. They scare me a lot. I try to bluff my way through life with all strangers, by growling and barking ‘a lot’. My foster mom is taking me for walks around people but I think that getting use to strangers is going to take me time. They scare me so much that I can’t quit barking and growling. I find myself wanting to bite because I am so frightened. My foster mom says that with some obedience lessons I might get more confidence and not be so frightened. Mom says that I will get better with time and experience but please have patience with me. I really am full of love and kindness, I just want to be close to you and enjoy life with you.
Since I was neutered on March 15, I do have some excess testosterone and occasionally show my manhood. However, I don’t do much marking in the house. I try real hard to be a good boy. I am potty trained. I go outside on my own through the pet door, or you just need to be sure to get me outside once in awhile. I will sleep in my kennel at night but I would like to share your bed best.
I have two play mates here both are small dogs and we run and play. I am not bothered much by bigger dogs though. Traveling is the best. I like to sit in the back window of my foster mom’s car or sit beside her while she drives. She won’t let me get in her lap and that is okay I suppose. If you tell me to stay in the car while you get out I will try real hard not to move until you tell me it is alright.
Please, I am looking for a real ‘forever family’, and I know you and I could be great friends. My adoption fee is $300.00 and I am eager to meet you. Contact my foster mom, Carolyn, at appraiser4u@verizon.net
