What
is Chihuahua Rescue & Referral?
CR&R is a
non-profit Chihuahua rescue organization. CR&R is headed by
Sher Wardrip and a great many volunteers. Sher uses her 19 years
experience, excellent reputation and large network of rescue
contacts in the US and Canada to facilitate the surrender,
fostering and adoption of abandoned, abused, or neglected
Chihuahuas & Chi Mixes in the Pacific
Northwest.
She
does this by making literature and information to the general
public at numerous pet-related events and, fundraisers, and acts to
take small dogs into foster care, facilitate the adoption process,
do home visits, coordinate veterinary care, help transport pets to
new homes, and proved follow up support with new owners.
Since CR&R does not have a shelter, "foster parents" take our
rescued Chihuahuas into their homes and provide the necessary love
& care. In these homes, the animals receive training,
socialization and evaluation. Lifestyle and needs of prospective
adopters and pets are carefully matched to ensure the best
placement. Potential adopters are asked to complete an adoption
application and interview with a CR&R placement
counselor.
CR&R also has an
annual fundraiser called The Gathering which is held each summer to
raise additional funds for these needy animals.
