New Stuff, Like I Said
Sep 06 2005-21:28
So, yea.. i went away for a couple of days here, and it was great! Except for the 320 Swiss Francs that it cost me... oh well, damn the cost, enjoy the time here! I went to a town called Zermatt, it's well known attraction is the Matterhorn mountain. Not the highest in Switzerland, but prolly the most famous.
The town is beautiful! Some of it has been commercialized for the tourists, but there is a large section that is still untouched, and i don't think i have enough words to explain it! Impressive is just a start, really.
So after hiking around for most of Sunday, i spent most of Monday 4000m up on a glacier, snowboarding!
Oh yea, Zermatt is car free! What a difference in noise level that makes. The only ways around are: horse and buggy, these little electric 'taxis' which are over-grown golf carts, or my way; two feet and a heartbeat. I did try hitchhiking in the town, but all the 'golf cart' drivers just laughed at (with) me... :(
The pic is from the summit of Klein Matterhorn (Small Matterhorn) it is 3883m (13,000 ft) and it includes 4 random Canadians that i met on the viewing platform! Of all places :)
Well, off to work for a week... hopefully some more stories when i return!
Cheers

Been A While
Sep 04 2005-12:08
So yea, it's been a while since i used this thing.. oh well. Lots seems to have happened, but trying to remember it all in point form is not that easy.
Our truck driver hosted a BBQ, but according to him, it's not a BBQ, i think it's a smoker, but he called it a 'Cactus Jack'. It is featured in the pic here. Meat (or anything really) is placed in the horizontal or vertical compartments, and fire is lit in the lower horizontal area. Heat and smoke cook everything inside! This all takes a long, long time, and he loves it. it relaxes him. The meat is so soft and tender and good when it is done! We also had corn and veggies, all done in the 'smoker'. Then for desert, we had chocolate covered bananas, done on the 'smoker' as well! Can't wait for the next BBQ! Oh yea, the thing weighs in at 365 kg (800 lbs)!! so it's not too portable!
Going away for the weekend, so hopefully i will have some more stories and pics when i return!
