Shocking Myself
Feb 19 2007-23:12
Perhaps all this 'organization' of on-line material is paying off... i mean here i am posting 3 posts in as may days! this is unheard of, really! Yes, i am aware that the Spain ones are sequential as well, but i cheated there. i had my laptop with me, and occasionally did some typing, then when i got home, i elaborated on a couple of writings, and then posted them all at once, and manually changed the dates!
The other shocking item is how the day went. Not too bad for a Monday! I rode the new bike to work today, got a lot done at work, rode home again, immediately went for a 5km run (!) (more on that later), then drank about a litre of water and headed out to my German language class. Phew! full day. Then ruined it all with 2 Big Macs after school... *sigh* still feeling the hit of not getting paid for January (and the new bike!) so i have not shopped for a lot of food lately. i've just been eating up the rest of what is on my shelves, and even that is getting skint... not sure what to do, still have 6 or 8 days till next pay... i'll figure it out, i always seem to do so. I think in about 5 days, all i will have left is a few onions and some lemon juice! maybe fry that up with some Rum, might make for something new and interesting!

Faith

We seem to put a lot of blind faith in these 'computer' thingee's, eh? i have just spent most of the day fucking around and avoiding a lot of typing that i keep telling myself to do. And i get to the realization that the ease and convenience of computers makes certain aspects 'disposable' so to speak.
Allow me to elaborate:
I have letters, i have written letters, these things are tangible. i still have every letter ever written to me (with the exception of 2, that got lost along the way, and i deeply regret that...) And these are filed, in a place, and i know where that is. in fact when i was home for Christmas, i came across them and re-read a few of them. Nowadays, i have three blogs (that i am trying to consolidate) typings in one program, a few Word files here, a few txt files there, and things brings up a few problems.
1) organization, for me organization is not a big problem, yet with this aspect i find it fucking horrendous, and wish i knew why
2) the tangability (is that a word??) is lost, i tend to forget about what i write. It's fucked, i write so i don't forget what is in my head - thoughts, emotions, travel stories - and then i forget where i wrote it, or forgot that i wrote it entirely!
3) loss - with the hard copies of yesteryear, it was not that easy to lose a paper. fire, probably, or carelessness. But now, the slightest malfunction could cause a full re-install and big loss. Yes i have backups, but they are on computer media as well, what's to say they won't fuck up as well...
Case in point, while in New Zealand, i was using my friends PC and doing some journal-ish typing and saving them to my USB stick. Through a freak-show of events, the stick ended up in my managers laptop at work once i got back here. Stupid me (carelessness, perhaps?) i left it in there for a bit while the manager did some work. When i came back, the stick was gone. Well, still physically in the laptop, but it had been formatted to some old school FAT12 system (which is archaic by todays standards) and of course everything was gone. True, i might have been able to use some Disk Doctor or something to dig for the file, but did not. And it's not the manager's fault, he is not computer literate enough to know what he did, it just did...
How can i write so much about such an inane topic... fuck it
bring back the pen

Up's, Down's And A New Baby
Feb 17 2007-19:11
So... when you are not paid for a month (even though the contract states 12 months of paid employment...) and you are out about 3000 CHF, what do you do?? Easy, go out and buy a new bike. Fuck 'em. Besides, when a deal like this comes up, really shouldn't pass it up, espically given the circumstances.
Found this bike on-line late on Fri. the store is about an hour away, so i decided to check it out on Sat. Slept in, missed the 9:30 train, fucked around, missed the 10:30 train.. decided to drive it instead. Nice drive. when i got to the shop, there was a guy looking at 'my' bike! Blast! He checked out a couple others, so i took it for a test ride during that time. Great bike, but first come, first serve and he wanted it. Blast again! I went to get some food and think about a couple other bikes the shop had for sale. Now here's the funky part, remember, this other bike buyer is Swiss.
He has a couple other 'important' bikes, and a bike rack on his Smart Car. Turns out the Specialized didn't fit is bike rack well enough, so he didn't buy it!! Instead of changing the rack, or a different car, he bailed on the purchase! Sweet! I took it for one more test and said 'sold'. But alas, as is the case in most of Switzerland, he don't take credit card! So off to the bank to see if i can get enough money out for it.
*Aside* - i switched to a new bank on Thurs, so i had no cards yet for this new bank, which would have helped, because the shop took EFTPOS, but not credit... Blast!
At the bank, there was an older lady that had a problem with the machine - it would not give her card back! This is 1:30 now, and the shop is to close at 2pm.. After messing around for a bit trying to find a number to call, and her using my mobile to try and call her husband, we got it sorted (my good deed for the day, i suppose). Now all i needed was some cash, which is not easy with foriegn cards..
Short story long, i got just enough cash out, ran back, and bought the bike :) he even threw in a lock for me, woo-hoo, eh? Just have to hope and be careful that this one doesn't get stolen! It cost a wee bit more than the one that was stolen last year.

Stuck, Fucked And Just Plain Bad Mood
Feb 08 2007-22:38
i wouldn't even know where to start.. i am so clouded right now. the vacation is another story - it rocked. but when i got back, it was exactly as i feared... when i left on Dec 15th, i wanted everything sorted for 2007. i started asking them (employers) in mid november to talk to me about this. nothing.
so, i discover that i didn't get paid for January, even though i was on a year contract. this started me off on my intrernal rant. if i had of known that in Dec, i would have either made different plans, or stayed in Japan for 4 more days, or told them to get fucked. but alas, what do you do? i come back, and then get told. For 2007, i got a bit of an improvement, but not nearly what i mentioned to them in Dec. again, one more thing we didn't talk about and now it's too late. for me that is. they have already long decided.
fuck this.. mind's racing too much. will add more later when i figure out what it is i want to say
