100% Perfect Title

The last day of this year just started, well 12 minutes ago at least. Finally. And as I sit here and wonder many a thing, I’ve become aware of a recent reading that keeps popping into my head. When I was at M’s place last week, she asked me to read a short story. The title: On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning. The result from reading it; well, I am still thinking about it 9 days later! It’s very short, yet says so very much. I think I need to find that book of short stories and buy it.

How To Make A Day Better

Still in the city today, and this time I had a couple specific places to hit before meeting M for dinner, drinks and ??. More on the ?? later.

I wanted to go to the Mac store to drool and check out prices. Word of caution, Mac stores 3 days before Christmas are crazy! I looked and drooled, and came to my senses and left! Off to Nespresso boutique. If you don't know what that is, it's not so important. The store is very new, and so the staff are extra keen to be friendly. In the end, I spent about 2.5 hours there just chatting to the staff! The first one that was helping me was very nice, and we talk a lot, he co-worker was not doing much, so she joined in as well. Turns out the store manager just arrived from Switzerland 4 days earlier! So then we have a chat about 'back home' and what she is doing here, etc etc. Crazy who you meet and where.

I meet up with M finally, and it's great! We have not seen each other in 5.5 years, and even before that we sadly didn't spend a lot of time together, but this meet up was epic. We set off walking, looking for somewhere to eat and we end up at one of her favourite places, Utopia. We had to wait (not long) for a table, and it was so very much worth it!! The food is unbelievable!

After eating too much, we set off walking again, and she takes me to a used book and record shop that I didn't know existed, and this is the start of the '??' I mentioned earlier. I end up buying this
Belle & Sebastian 12" vinyl. I have no idea who they are, or the music they play, but that cover.... I had to have it. I had already purchased a 12"x12" frame for a different piece of vinyl, but this one went straight into the frame instead!

She also helped me locate a book i have been thinking about for years. Not only did she help me find the book, she also had it on her shelf!! Alas, she would not give me the book though... :)

As if i needed anymore reason to love this girl! :)

City Bound

The idea of today was to wander the city of Toronto with my friend, but she had to cancel last minute. No matter, i can still wander alone. Except i had two bags with me, containing my laptop and enough gear for 3 days in the city. This was not to be a problem, because i was going to leave them in a locker or some customer service place in the mall. Little did i know that the city, and perhaps the whole country, has adopted some severe case of paranoia, and there is not a locker to be found in the city anymore! No subway station, the main train station, no mall services, no store.. nada. What the fuck? I finally get the bright idea to head to MEC (i was going there anyway) and i left the bags at their customer service for the rest of the day!

After a day of wandering a lot more than i expected, seeing some of the new additions to the city, and getting to some of the record shops and book stores i wanted to hit, and naturally spending more than i expected, i was off to meet the friend that had to cancel. It was a nice quiet night in, with pizza, wings and Wii. This was my first time playing a Wii, and now i want one!

Gingerbread

Today i decorated a gingerbread house. Sounds trivial, i know, but i have never done one before, or if i did, i was young enough to have forgotten. I was doing it with my nephew (8 years old) but he got rapidly distracted by something else, and i ended up doing some more. Then mum thought it needed more (which it did!) and now it looks great. Sorry no pics, but maybe before we eat it i will take some :)

Nada

If Young MC made a comeback now, would he still be allowed to keep that name, or would he have to change it to 'Middle-Aged MC'...

Home (Sweet?) Home

So i managed to make the trip home alright, just very early on Thursday morning for the train, and still a bit drunk :) Tried to sleep on the train so i wouldn't be sick. Made it. The flight was like any other flight, you fly 100 times, they are all the same. Nice thing about flying alone, often get to meet new people. Beside me this time: a priest returning to Seattle after 5 years of study in Switzerland for his PhD in Theology. On my other side, a nice Swiss girl that lives close to me, rides snowboards and makes Street Parade a yearly event as well.. Can you say torn? At least the flight was 9 hours and i was able to chat to both for a good amount of time. Got the girls number, but not the priests (maybe if i was 20 years younger! (I'm going to hell,i know)) I'm sure even God has a sense of humor, and if you can't laugh at the world, you are going to die a very grumpy person...

In the 5 days i have been home, i realized i don't like cold and snow. Thurs was ok, Fri not so bad, but Sat and Sun (and most of Mon) was horrible! -15 or so, more with wind. Sat night the snow started and it continued until about noon on Mon. I removed snow from the drive 3 times on Sun and one more time on Mon. AND to top it off, because of the snow, and the roads being so bad, i had to miss a 'date' (meet up, reunion, whatever) with a very near and dear friend that i will now have to wait 2 more weeks to see! *sigh*

It's not all doom and gloom. it is good to be home, and now that the snow has stopped and things return to norma, the blanket of snow on the fields is a sight to behold.

Oh, and i got some more piercings on Sat :)

MacGyver

Thanks to the flatmates ability to do fuck all, i had an interesting morning on the way to Murten today. I noticed that one of the brackets holding the exhaust on was broken, and the exhaust had a bit of a droop thing going on. No big deal, i will sort it tomorrow (since i know the flatmate wont...) But about 1/3 into the trip to Murten, the thing falls apart in the middle and starts dragging on the ground. Quickly pulling over, i survey the damage. Nothing serious, but i have nothing with me in the car to sort it out. i know what i could use, but where to find it. As luck would have it, there was a tree nearby that had been recently decorated with strings of lights. The people were careless (lucky for me) enough to throw the little 'twist-ties' that hold the lights to the packaging on the ground. I was able to find two of these.

I jack the car up as high as looked safe with the small tire jack, and used a work jacket that just happened to be in the car as a drop cloth. I was able to stuff the exhaust back together enough, and with the help of the twist-ties, held the thing up to the chassis!

It held all the way there and back, so i think i did a good job :)

Where's the love?

I put on a jacket today that i have not worn for a few weeks. in the pocket was a pack of Candy Hearts. Perfect. Nothing better than a powered sugar rush, eh?! However, i started to notice that the sayings on the hearts were pretty far from the ones i remember as a kid. I had to get a pic of these two. Which would you prefer to receive? Heart on the left or heart on the right!

2 Hearts
