What Boredome Will Do...

Right.. so to start off, i love playing the card game Hearts. I have a version of it for my Mac that i play far too much. One of the options is to not allow Shooting the Moon and Shooting the Sun. Shooting the Moon i know about; it is the process of taking all the points in one hand. Shooting the Sun i had never heard of. After playing for a while, i decided to look it up on the Internet. It is the process of taking all the TRICKS in a hand. A very difficult task to achieve, but with an amazing payoff in the points department. Needless to say, after finding this out, i made it my life goal to do this (in the Mac version anyway, until i find real people to play Hearts with again). So i set off to it, and in less than one week, i did it! It took nearly 300 hands to do it, but i can now tick that box and continue on with the next phase of beating boredom.. i think i will try to finish that 1000 piece puzzle i started oh so long ago..

Songs

Songs are a major influence in my life, as i'm sure they are for most people. I tend to relate a lot of my life and emotions and goings ons to music. I have lots of songs that make me think of friends, and thought i would publish such a list now. If the people reading this are listed, and you don't know why that song is beside your name, then i'm sorry to say that perhaps i didn't make as big an impression on you as you did to me. (That might sound evil, but it's really not) PS: the list is in no real order.

Mat D. - Blood on Blood, Bon Jovi
Jenn B. - Blue, The Jayhawks
Steph A. - I Saw The Signs, Ace of Base
Tom B. - Anything by Slayer
Tommie B- Anything he can freestyle to
Jen B. - the entire Olive CD
- If We All Lost Together, Blue Rodeo
- Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Kylie Minoge
Jay C. - Morningside songs

As more songs trigger more memories, i will expand the list.

Current song as i type: Kids, Kylie Minoge and Robbie Williams.. i am thinking of Australia and Paul Z. and the way he changed the lyrics to 'Doing it to the kids' he is a strange character!

Zurich Street Parade

So on a whim i decided to go to this event. I just found out about it on Wed the 11th and it was occurring on the Sat 13th. Well, actually i remember reading about it, but it had slipped my mind until i re-discovered it a couple of days before the event.

I was still unsure, i think because i was not sure why i wanted to go. Was i going just to say i did it? Was i going for the atmosphere? The music? Anyway, i talked myself into it so on Sat morning i packed a light bag, biked to the train station and bought a return ticket to Zurich.

It was so worth it!!

The parade consists of about 1 million people packed along a 2.4 km route (!) at 3 pm, the first of 32 'Love Mobiles' starts to roll. Love Mobiles are basically rolling night clubs. There are a few DJ's on the truck, and each truck has a theme and decorations and is packed with dancers. The trucks roll on by and the million or so people dance along to whatever beat each truck is playing. They are spaced out enough that there is very little 'cross-talk' so to speak.

It takes about 6 hours for all the trucks to pass! I stayed in one place for a while, and wandered around for a bit as well. There are 4 permanent stages spread along the route that are going off from about 1pm through to dawn the next day! Add to that about 30 night clubs that kick off after the parade AND not to mention all the little makeshift 'stages' all around the city centre and you have one massive rave if you ask me!
