Disney World - Day 3: Animal Kingdom & MGM studios
In the morning, we head to Animal Kingdom, a hybrid of Zoo and theme
park where live animals are presented in a setting which presumably resembles
their natural habitat (with some temple ruins thrown in in the case of the
South-East Asia sector. The African Safari has probably evolved from the
original jungle cruise which still exists in the Magic Kingdom, just with real
live animals instead animated, mechanical ones. We had gone on the Jungle
cruise the day before, twice once in the morning and late at night after the
firework, when it was much less crowded. There we noticed that even the jokes of
the ever smiling friendly cast-member guides which drive the boats, are
completely scripted and thus identical. Except the second guide, after
presumably a particularly long and stressful day is throwing in some sarcasm for
free

After
getting completely soaked by a water ride (the weather is unseasonably cold for
Florida), we pass by the hotel to get changed and go for the rest of the day to
MGM Studios, a theme park based on Hollywood. A lot of the attractions are
around movie sets and stunts. Presumably the facility includes parts of a real
working studio, but since movie sets are inherently fake and illusionionary, it
is hard to tell what is real fake and what is fake fake, i.e. what is part of a
real working studio and what is simply there for creating the illusion of a
working studio for the benefit of the masses passing through on a tour.
