Day 3

We head across the Golden Gate to visit the Redwood forest at Muir Woods - just to see a sign along the road that the parking lot is full... Oh well, instead we drive up the very scenic CA-1 along the rugged Pacific coast and stop at a few beaches along the way. In order to avoid the return traffic, we stop for dinner at the Parkside Cafe in Stinson Beach, which turns out to be surprisingly good. After spending some time inland the day before, it's really quite surprising how cold the coastal region is in summer! I guess I had heard about that the temperatures in SF are lower in summer than in winter, but nevertheless...
