day 1

Arriving in Oakland late - or rather early morning. We catch some sleep before heading into San Francisco for the day. There is no way to get to Alcatraz on a holiday week-end - ironic, since a few years back, the predominant challenge was to get out not to get in... We hang out along the waterfront, take a cablecar ride through the center before it's time to go visit our Friends in Sunnyvale, where we are staying for the week-end.
