Lausanne/Chateau de Chillon
Taking the early TGV from Gare de Lyon to Lausanne leaves enough time to
visit the
Chateau de
Chillon on the eastern board of Lake Geneva. With a unique strategic
location, at a narrow passage controlling the access to Gr. St. Bernhard,
Simplon and other alpine passes and located in an area famous for its
micro-climate that evokes the Riviera in the middle of the northern Alps, this
scenic Chateau has served its dual role as a fortress, summer residence of the
Dukes of Savoy (who owned many castles and had quite a
choice...)
