Shanghai
Stopping for a day of sight-seeing in downtown Shanghai on another
business trip to Hangzhou. The weather isn't too good and it's near freezing
overnight. The skimpy heater in the hotel room has no chance against the cold,
the poor construction standard and the 2 fronts of single-pane floor to ceiling
glass. Even though the lady at the front desk doesn't understand, I am quite
happy to trade my "executive suite" room for one of those stuffy window-less
"basic rooms" in the center of the building. Next time, I shouldn't assume that
sub-tropical means warm and dress for the occasion - like the locals do (they
don't have much heat
either...).
