Le Cirque
One Beacon Court
Since I was able to observe the taking shape of the latest incarnation
of Le Cirque in New York from across the courtyard - opening party and all (to
which we were not invited...). Given the opportunity, it was tempting to check
out the making of a high-end restaurant in its first 2 weeks of operations. By
the time, the worst chaos had subsisted and things were going reasonably smooth.
Our reservation was actually on the book, the large dining room has despite its
size a comfortable atmosphere and allows for ample people watching (Still don't
know who the people next to us were - at least everybody including chef and
owners seemed to stop by for a chat). Food and service as expected are solid, if
it's really worth the price is debatable - but since Le Cirque traditionally
caters to the clientele for whom all this is a rounding error in the margins,
this is a moot point...
