New Year's Eve

Going out on New Years eve NYC can be a bit of a problem. There are plenty of special events in lots of venues, but most just seems to hike the prices and offers less for more, compared to any other given evening. We decide to keep it low-key, maybe even stay at home. Walking home one day, we decided on a whim to sign up for the new years eve dinner at Le Singe Vert, right in our building. Generally a low-key, authentically French bistro, not the stylized version of what savvy New York restaurateurs assume their clientèle will consider Paris chic. Besides there had been a atmosphere with mix of neighborhood crowd and French expats during the world cup this summer, including some heart felt morositée when the French team lost in the end...

The New Year's event was very enjoyable as well. The dinner menu was a notch better and fancier than usual, as it should be for a feast and the crowd was energetic and fun and willing to do their own party. All in all one of the nicest New Year's so far in New York.
