Just how small can a transceiver be? Here's an example of one of the simpliest ones you can build. It is called a Pixie and it consists of just a couple of transisters, a crystal, a small handful of other parts, and a single audio amplifier IC. It fits in an Altoids can and may be powered by a single 9-volt battery. That's simple!
