Bruce's Ships and the Sea Page

I hope you find these links of some interest. There is a lot on the Web relating to ships, seafaring people and the ocean. Here are just a few of them. This page is under construction and will no doubt be better organized in the future.

Click here for a picture of the Horizon Anchorage at the dock in Kodiak, Alaska. She delivers cargo here to keep the Island supplied as well as carrying their seafood products to market.

The following link is an excellent page on the Merchant Marine maintained by a fellow Marine Engineer, Rick Boggs. Give it a visit. Rick has an excellent page with similar interests to this one. In fact, I got the idea to post some of my links from his home page. He is a working Marine Engineer and has an interesting perspective on life at sea. Rick's Merchant Marine Page

There is a lot going on of a political nature having to do with our American and also foreign Merchant Marines. Paul Norman's Page covers a lot of ground, not just on the political side, but also with a tremendous listing of sources about ships and shipping.

Please visit the most comprehensive web site about the American Merchant Marine at War - www.USMM.org.

Bill Momsen's Nautical Brass is a free ezine on nautical antiques and codebreaking in World War II.

William Grant has two excellent pages, one about his Great Grandfather William Fielding who served in the Merchant Marine for the British in WWI and lost his life when his ship was sunk by a German Sub, and also Roll of Honour, a site listing British sailors who served with the United States Merchant Marine.

Here is a link to the Fairweather. The Alaska Marine Highway System's new high speed ferry..
