Day 5 - Friday, July 2nd

At Spokane, Washington

We had a very well earned rest day today here in Spokane. We’re staying at Gonzaga University in one of the dorms. It’s comfortable except that it’s not air conditioned, and some of the rooms are quite warm.
We had a nice visit with my Dad and his wife Ronita last night and escaped with one of the cars! We did a bit of shopping this morning after sleeping in way past 7 am, and hit the REI store as well as the grocery and hardware stores. There’s always something we need for sure.
We went and saw Spiderman 2 as midday out of the sun escape. Perfect choice. I then went for a massage and another visit with Dad to round out the day.
Last night I got news that another $1000.00 or more in contributions had come in. Most of this was from my company, Horizon Lines, and employees of Horizon. Thanks so much for the encouragement and support!
All in all, a good rest day. I’m eager to be started again in the morning. We have 3 days of riding, then another rest day. The next three days will take us well into the Rockies, and promise to be some very challenging day of riding. I’ll be posting again from Missoula after July 4th.
In keeping with my theme of water towers, this is Spiderman jumping from building to building in the movie. Note the old style wooden water towers in the background. Every building had one back then.

The email I'll use this summer is brucesherman@mac.com. Send mail to this address to say hello and I'll be able to read it on the ride.
