Day 21 - Sunday, July 18th |

Rapid City, SD to Kadoka, SD - 101 miles
| The
102 miles from Rapid City through the Badlands National Park can be an
easy ride, or a hard ride. If the wind is blowing the wrong direction,
a good satisfying century ride can turn into the ride from hell. Today,
we had temperatures above 100 degrees, those 100 miles to ride through
the Badlands and a very slight favorable wind. |

| Scottina (Katie) and Brucerella (Kacy) surprised us this morning with these matching jerseys. By complete coincidence, today was the first day that Scott and I were forced to repeat a jersey. That means that Scottina and Brucerella qualify as our 17th unique jersey! Our streak is still intact. | See how there are so many were riding together early in the day? We're passing through isolated farm and cattle land east of Rapid City. Ahead of us are the Badlands. |

| Steve is one of our two recumbent riders. He made the box on his recumbent. Didn't he do a nice job of decorating it? Steve is probably the fastest bike on the tour, except for uphill climbs. | I took advantage of takng his picture today because I rarely see him out on the road. He's always in front of me. Steve is a great guy, and we are both 52 years old. |

| These horses and colts looked so right for this pasture. The land they are on is open all the way back to those hills and a long ways in either direction. We thought the colts were particularly cute. | I took many pictures in the badlands, and most of it looked a lot like this. Heavily eroded valleys with spires and hills in various states of decay. |

| Andrej and Courtney spin along in the morning. At one point, the two of them passed our whole group while we were moving right along. | David and Catherine at the mid morning pie stop. They rode in with Beth and Allen after a good morning's ride and promptly chowed down on pie. |
