Seattle to Easton, Washington - 80 Miles
|
|
Scott McNeill and I have been working hard getting ready for the ride. The ride leaders and others at the Lung Association have also been doing a great job of getting us all ready to go across the country. It's now, June 5th, and Scott and I did a 70 mile training ride today. We hope to get regular long rides in on the next several weekends before we take off on June 28th. One exciting aspect of this ride is that so many of the riders are not from Washington or the Seattle area. We have riders from Eastern Europe, and also really far away places like Texas, no kidding. We're looking forward to meeting all of the Big Riders as we gather in the days before ride. We'll have a banquet and meeting to tell us all about the ride on Sunday night the 27th. I can't wait. Check here for more details and pictures in the days coming up to our departure. A note: I have decided on two different personal projects to occupy my time and interest on the Big Ride. One, I'm fascinated by the water towers that grace every town. There is a lot of individuality and character invested in each towns tower. I'll be taking pictures of the more interesting ones as we tour across the country. Secondly, I've owned several Welsh Corgis in my life, and my sister Robbie has a wonderful one right now. I'm making it my mission to photograph all of the Welsh Corgis I encounter. I will be posting these photos along with the water towers. Check for links on my opening page. |
