Welcome to Bruce Sherman's Big Ride Across America 2004 web site!
Read my account of the Big Ride!
Our trip is now complete. Go to this link to see a day by day record with diary and photos from the road. Check out Scott McNeill's page also as he will be posted an excellent record also. Scott also has a number of links to other Big Riders website.
See pictures of water towers found across America on my Big Ride.
Corgi Page- I will take pictures of any Welsh Corgi dogs that I encounter on route. This will be an unofficial census of Corgis as I pedal across these great United States. Our Corgi Odyssey is complete with the last one two blocks from the end. Go have a look.

What's it all about?
Bicycle ride from Seattle to Washington, DC
3,300 miles in 48 days (June 28th to August 14th)
Average 83 miles/day, with 8 days over 100 miles
Total of 40 cyclists, each fundraising at least $5,500 for the American Lung Association of Washington
More details available at http://www.bigride.org.
Have I lost my mind?
Probably. Ever since I started doing long rides again about 12 years ago I have dreamed about a cross country trip. My friend Scott asked me if this was the year, and I hardly hesitated before saying yes. The Lung Association is a fantastic charity, fighting lung disease, supporting smoking cessation and education, providing asthma camps for children, and lobbying for clean air legislation. Go to the ALAW web site for more information on Lung Association programs.
What can You do?
Support me by making a donation. Either go to http://www.alaw.org/Sherman and click the "Sponsor Me Online Now!" button, or go to the Donations form, print it, fill it out, and mail it to the indicated address with your donation. Contact me at bruce@oz.net if you have any questions. I contribute most of the actual cost of the ride to the Lung Association myself, so you know your contributions go directly to the programs of the Lung Association.
What's in it for You?
Satisfaction in knowing you're helping a great cause. Joining me vicariously for an adventure of a lifetime. Recognition for supporting me and the Lung Association. I really appreciate your help and so do all of us who benefit from the work of the Lung Association. Thanks!
